Morrissey's house for sale?
posted by davidt on Friday November 22 2002, @08:00AM

Is this the same one? An anonymous person writes:

I was reading in Entertainment Weekly magazine that the house Morrissey currently resides in is for sale?!? It's current asking price is $3.2 million. Can anyone else confirm this?

Another anonymous person writes:

This week's Entertainment Weekly has an article on page 19 titled "Gimme Shelter."

A 4 bedroom, 7 bath, 3,700 sq ft. Spanish estate built in 1926, formerly owned by Carole Lombard and Clark Gable, is being described as for sale by Prudential California Realty for $3.2 million!

I can't think of any other reason than that one for wanting to sell your house which has been lived in by one of the greatest actresses that ever lived and one of the worst actors that ever lived.
I can't see him moving back to England though, his relationship with the press is still pretty strained, but it would be great if he did.

I heard years ago that Morrissey leased this property. Is that true. But in any case, I'm sure he is sooo sick of answering questions about it. Every interview asks about it. And, frankly, $3.2 million is chump change for a house these days. Or rather, it's a lot of money, but it doesn't buy all that much square footage, unless you live in Kanas or outer Mongolia.

I remember reading in Q magazine some years ago that Morrissey was the 64th richest U.K entertainer -with some 8 million pounds - and that (outside of the obvious cash he's made from his music and touring) he made his fortune from buying and selling properties.
If I recall correctly, Morrissey apparently purchased his L.A pad for approx 1 million, so really, he's only selling his place to turn a massive profit.
