Actually, that isn't incredibly silly at all. If the post beneath this one with the rumour of a late fall release is true, well it makes perfect sense. After all, he has shared the stage with them in the past.
It was actually in Manchester when the Fall, New Order, and the Smiths performed a concert dubbed 'From Manchester With Love' Bernard Sumner and Johnny Marr first met to dicuss collaborating together.
Morrissey and New Order touring isn't a silly and outragous thought at all. It would actually be brilliant.

New Order and Morrissey on the same bill here in The States? Brilliant! The fans would not clash at all. I, by the way, am fans of both. So it makes sense. But in reallity, it seems too good to be true. But I'm keeping my fingures crossed! And if they end up performing in Pittsburgh, PA, we might see Morrissey kicking and screaming about it, but it might be the only way to get him out on the stage here.

When i heard this, i did not think it was a silly idea- i thought of something quite major.
Yes New Order and the Smiths shared the bill in the past. And also Johnny has worked with Bernard Sumner in Electronic since.
Could the lack of any Morrissey material be something to do with this?
I mean if Morrissey was to release an album, we would reasonably expect him to tour with this new material. And why delay this?
Well the common denominator is Bernard Sumner, with both Morrissey and Marr. Is this the prelude to a money spinning Morrissey and Marr reunion?
A release from Morrissey at this point in time would commit him to the band (performances & promotions etc). I ask myself if he is leaving himself free for something more profitable?
Morrissey is a businessman, so too i would say is Johnny (anyone who gives up thier own band to become a high paid sessionist...). New Order are businessmen(Hacienda and Factory records)
Morrissey's self financed tour could have made them sit up and realise the earning potential of a joint US tour.
Note a tour like this would really only be profitable in the US- in the Uk Morrissey and New Order are not mainstream(Johnny Marr - who's he?)
This might all seem like rubbish to you and i clearly haven't thought it through.......but this was my first thought when i saw this rumour. I'd like to hear what you think on this.
