"The CD Singles '91-'95" released Sept. 17, 2001
posted by davidt on Monday September 17 2001, @07:30AM

"The CD Singles '91-'95" is released this week in the UK and also France. Antoine writes: I just get my boxset. Nothing special except that the "Hold On To Your Friends" CD has the same package as the original 12" and 7" limited edition (scan from Antoine). That's very nice.

WOW a new boxset, wonderful. It appears from the picture to be a crap brown color, good choice.Personally i would have preffered a bright neon pink or green.

OK, I've been annoyed at the number of Morrissey/Smiths repackagings over the last few years. I think that "the very best of was" was an absolute disgrace. However, i really do think that they've got it right with these two singles boxed sets. Firstly, as I am sure most of you are aware, this set is aimed primarily at the new collector, and is a great opportunity to get hold of a lot of the older and rarer b-sides which have never been compiled on albums.

To the people incensed about this .... no one is holding a gun to your head. You don't *have* to buy it, and if you're sad enough to feel obliged to buy it, and yet not want to, and because of this you end up all bitter and twisted at Morrissey, I think it's probably time you got therapy.

I've got the first box set that come out, what, almost 10 years ago? Maybe not that long ago...maybe 8 years ago. Anyway, I'll probably get this one, too - just to have it.

I LOVE the "Hold On To Your Friends" single cover...he's so beautiful!

Moz re-issues are indeed cashing in on some of the fans addiction with anything Moz. It's actually quite simple: in my opinion, these re-issues are a trivial accounting exercise. It is already known that X% of fans will buy these and the only fix costs associated are printing, duplicating & packaging. everything else inluding royalties are variable based on unit sales. If Moz trading cards were available, would we buying those up as well?
