  • Don't complain about lack of options. You've got to pick a few when you do multiple choice. Those are the breaks.
  • Feel free to suggest poll ideas if you're feeling creative. I'd strongly suggest reading the past polls first.
  • This whole thing is wildly inaccurate. Rounding errors, ballot stuffers, dynamic IPs, firewalls. If you're using these numbers to do anything important, you're insane.

  • Fighting out of Manchester, England. Whilst not strictly a Smiths tribute act, focussing much more on their erstwhile singer, they do rattle frantically through the Smiths numbers that Moz has aired post-1987. I caught them at Dry Bar, M/cr, earlier this summer. Went in with massive scepticism, came out a steaming hunk after 2hrs down the front. Didn't get Alsatian Cousin but was promised it next time.
    Excellent stuff.

  • Do a passable version of How Soon Is Now so I've heard. With a gong. And check out the Mexican guitarist putting his own peculiar slant on many a Smiths classic.

  • Imagine a band made up of Les Dennis, Michael Portillo and Madge Bishop with (Big) Ron Atkinson on drums and you've got one hell of a tribute band.

  • Saw these cats fill in for Morrissey in Baltimore in July '07. Don't know if they're still around but, that's the most convincing Morrissey interpretation I have ever seen. Great show, great energy, the set list was excellent too!I couldn't believe I had never heard of them - seems most others haven't either.

  • but I feel the Smoking Popes would make a fantastic Morrissey cover album, apart from the obvious amazing similarity in vocals and writing, they are partial to a cover or too.

  • .....now Viva Morrissey, I believe.

Saw them before the name change. Best Smiths/Morrissey tribute band that I've ever experienced. Singer really excelled, but the band were great as well. Plus, they didn't just do the safe/obvious stuff.

Can't believe that they've been relegated to the "other" section in this poll as I reckon anybody else who'd seen them would rate them highly.
