    I'm really surprised Southpaw didn't receive more votes. I think it is one of the best Morrissey's done in his career. It's a simple, heart-felt lyric that I, for one, instantly identified with and the music is a perfect soundtrack of longing and despair. To each his own.

              But only the short version, the extended one drones on interminably. I'd go for Pigsty otherwise, despite the loveliness of Maudlin St and Southpaw. Teachers should really be track 1 on the reissue, bizarre jumbling and revisionism there. Don't care much for This Is Not Your Country.

              I chose "life is a pigsty" with "late night . . ." as a second before looking at the results- I guess I share the majority opinion out the gate.

              "life is a pigstye" not only sets the tone and theme of the album, but it really sums up Moz at this stage in his life and career (as an artist- if that makes any sense). If I had an inch of his success, I'd like to think that I wouldn't have such things weighing on my back, but that just shows what an evolving artists he is. Some many of my "new favorite artists" have come and gone, but Moz will always be my main man!

                As I've said before, this song is an epic, and no other song in Morrissey's catalogue compares to the detailed storytelling. Morrissey wears his heart on his sleeve for this song.

                          ...that no one has suggested 'I'd Love To' from the Viva Hate bonus tracks. In my opinion this song is one of the saddest he's done, so much so its not always the first i go to but still never forgotton. xx

                            This poll, if anything, has made me realize how good his "long" songs are. I really like all of these songs...Southpaw being my #2 Moz song of all time. This is Not Your Country is an underrated gem, epic and brilliant. Moon River of course is amazing. I love the lush atmospheric tracks like these...and as someone pointed out, "I'd Love To" is also in that group.

                                Love the lyrics, love the arrangement, moves me every time.
                                i also think that for me, this has the most "staying power" (i may have answered Pigsty awhile back), and Moon River is just terrible...and as it is a cover, doesn't really count in comparison to the others listed.

                                  I voted for the stellar "Life Is A Pigsty" over the sublime "Late Night, Maudlin Street" mainly because i felt "Pigsty" would be the underdog... as people on this site would never support a Ringleader track over one from the sentimental-favorite: Viva Hate. Who knew so many would concur!? "Pigsty" really is a great track; a future classic.

                                                    This is obviously a very poorly written question, as many of the choices given, are not album tracks (meaning, they may not have been recorded in the same time period as the album they support), and the fact that there are 2 tracks listed that appear on the SAME album (hence bias on the part of the author of this poorly worded poll).
