Life ain't no Beach (Score:1)
I was shocked when this was included on this album. It's one of his weakest songs. I never understood why he bothered to cover it and to release it. That song is really the bottom of the barrel.

          I guess most of the people on here are not sophisticated enough to appreciate this gem. The arrangement is outstanding and the beauty of Morrissey's vocal is stunning. This may be the best song he has released in the last decade.

            Having not every really listened Redundant Beach I dialed up YouTube to give a listen and I have to agree with most of you on here. A greatest hit? I think most of us agree, "what is morrissey thinking lately?"

            BUT-there is a saying in the talk radio business that they don't care what your opinion is, they just care that you HAVE an opinion--that's what keeps bringing you back.

                for Redondo Beach. It's all a matter of taste, I know, but still I'm surprised so many people seem to hate it. While I rather like it. More than much of his newer stuff in fact.

                I never liked Last Of The Famous International Playboys and seem to be quite alone with this as well ;)

                And I don't like Greatest Hits albums in general and especially not of someone whose records I already own. But as the saying goes, if you don't like it, then you don't buy it ...

                      This article is beyond "mean-spirited." It is factually untrue, and very dishonest. The writer obviously carries a giant chip on his shoulder, and this words are sheer veneer for hatred, lies, and antagonism. This writer clearly is projecting his own washed-out dreams onto an immensely talented and highly-influential artist/performer. Each word hurts more than the one before, here. I can't believe this type of "journalism" was even printed in the first place. This gentleman writes like an old, tired, anxious "queen." Go back home and spin Peter Frampton or Gino Vanelli.

                        Artist wants a new album deal but the record company insists on a GH too. Not keen, but unwilling to cave in totally asks for one "personal choice" track.

                        Then chooses a dud.

                        Artist is bright enough to know the GH won't be hugely popular with established audience, so tries to keep a dignified distance.

                          i think that come back to camden and alma matters are two of his best songs... ever. but in general, i dont think that it was "necessary" to release another best of... there are too many already. but i believe it's a matter of business, i'm afraid, and artists themselves are not the ones to blame.

                            If I'm being honest, which I am, I'd prefer he left all of them off this "hits" compilation and didn't bother releasing it at all. Few of the tracks can be truly described as hits, although there are some amazing songs on there.

                            Like the mug I am I will buy it but not for the songs (let's face it, we've all got them in every available format you could mention), but because it completes a collection - an achilles heel, if you will.

                            Roll on the next studio album and let's hope that rather than release every potential "hit" as a single, Morrissey opts to release no singles from the next album and bolster his fan base with a smattering of new singles (not on the album) to compliment its release.

                            It worked for The Smiths. Every release was hotly anticipated.

                              I was surprised there was not an option to choose all these songs as not belonging to a greatest hits album..... if I really want to hear these tracks, why not just buy the last two albums??? NOOOO!!!! I don't dislike Morrissey, I still consider myself to be one of the biggest fans here in Los Angeles.... but at the same time, I'm not just going to sit back and swallow just cause the box says MoZ (as most would do, and how I don't know)..... does any one remember what he once said about Mick Jagger??? Please stop ramblin on your tracks Moz, it's gettin old.... i like it better when you sang about troubled youth and gay guys you couldn't have.... i'm tired of hearing you ramble on and on about yourself....
