  • Don't complain about lack of options. You've got to pick a few when you do multiple choice. Those are the breaks.
  • Feel free to suggest poll ideas if you're feeling creative. I'd strongly suggest reading the past polls first.
  • This whole thing is wildly inaccurate. Rounding errors, ballot stuffers, dynamic IPs, firewalls. If you're using these numbers to do anything important, you're insane.

Morrissey would have never been heard (to the extent that he was and is) if Johnny's music wasn't up to par. Part of the reason we all love The Smiths so much is the MUSIC - much as some of you seem to hate to admit this fact. Johnny's riffs are some of the most influential (and memorable) of any 80's guitar slinger - and his reputation as a technical wizard in the studio remains to this day. There Is A Light.., How Soon Is Now, Cemetery Gates, That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore, This Charming Man, Please, Please, Please.. - even a throwaway (in terms of the ease with which Johnny came up with it) such as Well I Wonder - so much of the magic of these songs comes from Johnny's beautiful music.

Yes, it was essentially The Morrissey Show, but Marr's music provided the perfect soundtrack, you've got to admit.

So many current guitarists took their cue from Marr.. you never hear them say, "why, it was ol' Alain Whyte (or insert any Moz-solo guitarist here) who got me to pick up a guitar!"

Yet still you see fit to champion them over the man who created the very musical backdrop that helped to propel your hero to fame, fame, fatal fame... I just don't get it.

Although his contributions to the The were limited, I still feel that his work with Matt Johnson are the best of his post-Smiths work. Mind Bomb and, especially Dusk are brilliant albums. Electonic was basically, New Order-lite. I'm till waiting for a new offering from the The, as it seems to take him years to release new material.

We can't compare Bernie's vocals to Moz obviously, but then again I find that for a non-singer, Bernie has a nice voice. The second album "Raise the Pressure" was not as strong, but 2 tracks stood out instantly: Forbidden City and Out of my League. Both have signature Marr riffs.....simple and moving. "Twisted tenderness" was the most Rock out of all 3 records. For me, Electronic did it. But, I do have to say that Mind Bomb is an epic album. I freakin miss the Smiths so much. I wonder if there will ever be a Moz/Marr reunion......
