The two most obvious are missing- the openeing line from "William" and as already mentioned, "Well I Wonder..." you know it does have the sound of rain throughout!!

From the gently chiming opening sequence, through the tenderly mocking vocal part, pitter-patter of the percussion, culminating in sampled (apparently) authentic Mancunian rain hitting slabs of grey pavement in some tip of a council estate, this one was written for every rainy day in history.

            William it was really nothing was always my fave rainy day song by the smiths.

            I think it stems from a time when i was about 15 and I was walking home in with my walkman on (shows how long ago that was!) and Just as the heavens opened "the rain falls hard on a humdrum town" launched in to my ears. I actually remember laughing out loud and then quickly checking around me to see if anyone had seen me laughing.

            I also recall that The queen is dead was on the same cassette and I found that amusing too as the rain most certainly did flatten my hair!

            Not sure anyone will be slightly interested in my life story there but hey. I shared it anyway.

              Like so many others here, I would have to say that 'Well I Wonder' is without doubt the best 'rainy day' song, and also my favourite all-time Smiths song.

              I would really have loved to have seen him add this song to his current set-list for next weeks show at the SECC.
              The idea of the song ending, and the synthetic rain segueing from 'Well I Wonder' into 'Life Is A Pigsty' is truly mouth-watering.

              Such a tragedy it's unlikely to happen.

                My pick was obiously "unloveable", amazing song to listen to in both rainy and sunny days.
                It would have made sense to put "well i wonder", "i don't owe you anything" and "pretty girls make graves" as options, THOSE are rainy day songs.
