Spencer's previous bands include The Memphis Sinners, The
Orbitones, and Born Bad. Of late, he's been splitting drumming
duties with Woodie Taylor.
Quoted in the May 19, 1991 issue of NME, Spencer's teenage years
involved 'The Who, The Kinks, Jimi Hendrix and running riot with
the mods and skins down Carnaby Street.' Also noted: he was
vaguely familiar with The Smiths, 'It was the sort of music that,
if it came on the radio, I'd turn it off.' And about his drumming:
'balls-out is my only speed.'
