This is not correct. The Salford Lads have not confirmed to play in Boston. As of now, the Lads are recovering from their recent successful gig in LA with the Sweet and Tender Hooligans. Wait for more details before venturing off and committing to a weekend in Boston.Justin of the Salford Lads

Pay the cover to listen to the d.j.'s, but don't go because of the Salford Lads. I was one of the unlucky who had to stand through their sad attempts to play Smiths and Moz tunes in L.A. this past Saturday.I've seen the Smiths and Moz many times and don't ever remember Moz acting like a boney spastic retard as interpreted by Jesse the lead singer. Note: try not to use every move from "The Last Of The Famous..." video during every single song you attempt to sing. Silent Gray was excellent and the Holligans certainly did not dissapoint. The Lads should take a lesson from them and learn to play the songs (and know the words) before they attempt to play in front of an audience. Thank you Jose for doing such a great job and inviting Silent Gray to perform. As for the Lads...a little more rehearsal time please.

You sound like a bitter person for no good reason. If you were at the show, you would have seen the audience going totally crazy for The Lads, and they totally deserved it! They played hard and rocked hard, and my friends and I all had the best time. I'm sick of seeing the Hooligans and their light and fluffy renditions, it was cool to see the band from NY rock out. Most the crowd was in agreement with me, don't listen to the jerkoff 2 posts above me....

Replying to MozMan68@aol.com:I have seen the Lads play a few times and I don't agree with you. It is probably easy to be an ass about someone else's performance when you haven't bothered to try it yourself. Don't be so judgmental, people are there to have fun not to criticize. e :)

I don't think I was harsh.....I just expect "the East coast's only Smiths/Morrissey tribute band" to actually know the words and music to the songs they play. Jesus...is that too much to ask.Also...outside of a FEW people up front, most of the attendees I viewed were not impressed and even seemed confused by the Lads inability to play/sing the songs in a consistent, professional manner. Still a bargain for $12 thanks to Silent Gray and the Hooligans. Believe me....I want to like the Lads. I just wanted to suggest that they try to be more of a TRIBUTE band and less of a so-so band that just happens to be playing Smiths/Moz tunes. Peace

Thanks for your input, Morris. You are correct in stating that we are, in fact, a *tribute* band, not a cover band. This means that while we do play Smiths and Morrissey songs, you are not going to hear a note for note replica of the recordings - for that you can listen to the album. Thus far the response from the crowds we played has been spectacular and there are bound to be some people who don't like it - it's all part of playing for an audience, especially one as educated as a Morrissey audience.Thank you everyone for your support - all the feedback, positive and negative, is appreciated.

Don't listen to this Morris person! People were going crazy for the Lads and they DO know how to play these songs! The Salford Lads were great and I loved every minute of Jesse's girating. The band was solid and you could tell they work really hard at nailing the music. Have you ever tried to play these songs, Morris? It's not easy, and the band did it VERY well.Kudos to the Salford Lads!!!

Actually, I will be playing the show in place of the Salford Lads. I am a new performer in a group that is called, Vicar in a tutu, and my band covers Smiths/Morrissey songs. I think you'll like us. See you at the show.

Apologies to everybody. I have been away at work, school and the like the past couple of days. I, unfortunately, misunderstood the situation and was under the impression everything was a go. My fault completely. I'm going to be hitting the phones tonight to do my best to get the Lads' needs met (getting them the $$ they deserve) after I get the hell out of school. Incidentally, under the situation the Lads cannot be duely compensated (not my decision) the cover would be cut in half to those who choose to show on Saturday night. Once again I take full blame for this one and my deepest apologies to The Salford Lads as none of this is their fault. Fire up the torches if you must. More to come very soon, stayed tuned. Thanks for patience. ~derek

Hi Everybody, Unfortunately the Salford Lads will not be performing at the Upstairs Lounge this Saturday. We would really like to since we love to play in Boston, everyone there is so cool. But due to the mix-up (which is really nobody's fault, these things happen) and scheduling conflicts, it's just impossible for us to make the trip this time. The good news, however, is that I had a great conversation with Derek today and we would both like to set something up for the near future. So everybody keep your eyes and ears peeled, and the Lads will be performing in Boston before you know it. Once again, we apologize for the confusion, and thanks to everyone in Boston for your patience. See you soon! Mike

Regardless of the mix up, a night of Derek and Ken spinning is sure to be a blast. Perhaps if the manager of the lounge got his act together and actually started doing his job we could be spared of this happening again...

Wrong ??, I knew seven other people there who knew all of the songs ;) including myself. It was sort of lame to meet some people who kept asking why they were playing so much Smiths/Morrissey music.
