Morrissey - faux fur designer

by David T. <david@morrissey-solo.com>
Is this the same Morrissey, or is there another one in Australia? From Karionie:

Humane Society International -- the Australia branch is hosting a Faux Fur fashion show -- and Morrissey is one of the designers. A vest he designed is currently up for auction on ebay. I was skeptical when I saw it listed, but I checked out the web site, and the show appears to be legit. Here's a link to the Humane Society site:

Description of vest on eBay:

With winter approaching, NW magazine and the Humane Society International are joining forces to highlight the cruelty to animals, as a result of the fur industry.

To increase awareness of the devastating loss of animals throughout the world, top Australian designers have shown their commitment to this cause by creating stunning outfits with Faux Fur. This outfit has been donated for auction, with the proceeds going to the Humane Society International's Animal Protection Project.

This garment was designed by Morrissey.

It is a size 12, Faux Fur reversible unisex vest.

Comments / Notes

I can safely say that this garment is the creation of a designer named Morrissey and not the fellow we are more familiar with.

Rest assure this hideous piece wasn't designed by 'the man.' This designer, Morrissey, is always lingering in Vogue magazine. I don't beleive I've ever seen a quiff on him.

Although this is what everyone has already said,
This was not designed by The Mighty Mo
There are alot of clothes by the designer Morrissey on EBAY.

yes the character that designed this is called morrissey, and I forget his first name, james or something, he used to be half of the fashion label edmonston/morrissey until a bitter spat some years ago. he is a bane in my life as I hear/see the word "morrissey" and immediately come to attention only to realise it is this chap. and no, there is no sign of a quiff, he could'nt even if he wanted for his hair shaved/cropped and receding. I could say more, but you get the general idea.

Yeah, it's not our Morrissey but an Australian fashion designer. For sure.

yah, this is an australian designer named morrissey. i didnt know he existed until a couple of years ago when i walked past a fashion store and saw a plain white tshirt with 'morrissey' written across the front. i thought, 'odd, a boring morrissey shirt in a fancy fashion shop, id have thought theyd sell it in record shops' until i realised the mistake. since then ive seen real yuppie wankers and pathetic aussie trendy-types wearing the same tshirt and it really pisses me off. glad i didnt buy it

Peter Morrissey, for those who are interested or racking their brains to remember.

Yeah Peter Morrissey indeed. It was well spooky when I went to Sydney and saw a shop simply called "Morrissey" in huge letters.
I thought oh well there are a lot of people with that surname anyway and thought nothing of it. I still tried one of the denim jackets on (with a silver tag and chain attached to it, which read Morrissey) but the shape was weird and it was overpriced for what it was.
Then as I left the shop I saw the new t-shirts they had: one read "Morrissey 2000", the other "Bondi Drag"!!! Now of course Bondi is an eastern suburb of Sydney but surely that wasn't a coincidence...

That vest is bloody awful.

P.S Is that a trim English size 12 or a fatty American size 12? Do tell.

Faux fur seems a dubious option, at best. Morrissey, when he comes out in his PVC Elvis jumpsuit, does the right thing and announces to all who see him that he's not actually wearing leather. Unless you have a rapt audience (as Morrissey does at his concerts), it is unlikely that wearing faux furs would amount to anything but a perpetuation of the idea that it's okay to wear fur. And this is because to the casual observer, the faux fur looks real. Imagine setting yourself up for paint attacks by PETA personnel when you weren't even wearing real fur. Hardly seems worth it.

ARE WE SURE THE OTHER DESIGNERS ARE REAL... I MEAN... WHERE'S MICKY MOUSE OR HE-MAN?

I can assure you that Little Miss Curious does most definitely not resemble the typical American physique. She doesn't binge on burgers and "root beer" (?) but is trim, lithe and downright gorgeous.

When I was in Sydney I saw a clothes shop on
Oxford street called "Morrissey'.
I was shocked, but I think it's more likely these
guys designed the vest and not the man himself

"Morrissey" is an australian brand. The first shop of this designer opened in Sydney. Then, it has recently become a very famous brand all over Australia. I can't believe some people thought Steven-Patrick was the designer! "Morrissey" is not a copyright name!
