The Salford Lads to play at Jam tribute (Don Hills in NYC, May 6)
Posted on Mon, May 1 2000 at 8:55 a.m. PDT
by David T. <david@morrissey-solo.com>
Flyer is forthcoming. From Ezra:

This Saturday, May 6:

The east coast's only Smiths tribute band, The Salford Lads, will be playing a tribute to the Jam at Don Hills in NYC. A good number of bands from NYC will be playing 2 songs each by the legendary Jam. Included among these bands is Elva Snow, featuring guitarist Spencer Cobrin, best known as Morrissey's drummer from 91-97, and composer of "Lost", "Wide to Receive", and "Now I Am A Was". I'm told there will also be some very special surprise guests.

Don Hills is located at 511 Greenwich St (corner of Spring) in NYC

Showtime is 10:00
$5 before 11 with flyer, $10 after

(update: 5/2 - flyer available here)

Oh, how very droll. I see the rain falls hard on New Yorkers as well as people that live in towns that are *really* boring. Well, I happen to think that seeing live bands is fun, and I'm glad that the Salford Lads exist.

"I'm dying".

"You're not dying, you just can't think of anything good to do".

OK, I KNOW THE LADS ARE A SMITHS/MOZ COVER BAND, BUT DO THEY ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO BE INCLUDED ON HERE FOR A JAM TRIBUTE?? WHO REALLY CARES???

Yes, we do have to play this. This city would crumble without us, and we would crumble without you. You don't have to come. You can always stay home and watch CBS. But if you feel the need to feel sexy, I say come out and get your kick with the Lads. We promise the usual petty crime that we bring to all our shows.

I THINK WHAT THIS PERSON MEANT WAS WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE INCLUDED ON MORRISSEY'S WEBSITE, NOT WHY ARE YOU PLAYING ON A JAM TRIBUTE LIST. NOT PUTTING DOWN YOUR SKILLS TO MIMICK MORRISSEY, BUT TRUTH BE TOLD YOU AREN'T MORRISEY, THAT WAS THE POINT.

I agree with anonymous and frined of anonymous...while the lads are a smashing cover band, in actuality they are not the smiths or morrissey for that matter, therefore, I feel this info should've been saved for their own website. Sorry guys...
While the tribute is just dandy, this is NOT pertinent info to the everyday Moz fan.
