Is this an ad from L.A. Weekly or La Opinion? I guess I'd better bring my spanish-English dictionary to the show.

Que? Yo no intiendo spanish, por favor Morrissey you are discriminating against the white man for advertising in espanol! JA! By the why, to who ever made the comment, Morrissey looks good in the ad because it is not a recent picture. ---Morrissey:el cantante-el concierto-el mariposa-el viejo que insiste convencer a sus fans latinos que vale la pena gastar $30-40 dolares para verlo cantar canciones ya agotadas.

Juan,Spanish is a "white man's language". It was forced upon the peoples of South America by those evil Spanish conquistadors. What you ever-so sensitive politically correct idiots fail to realize is that we have never enjoyed an "utopia" on this planet. Every square inch of this earth has been conquered and re-conquered. Racism isn't only an American problem, rather a world problem. There are struggles all the world-- Chinese aggression into Mongolia/Tibet, black tribes in Africa killing one another over "race", the white man in Europe killing on another over issues of "race" (Ireland, Bosnia, the Holocaust).... Juan, I bet you couldn't tell a Chinese person from a Japanese person. Believe me, the Japanese are very racist and there is no love-loss between the Chinese and Japanese, much less Koreans. "but look, i'm only human....."

I love it when Morrissey speaks spanish, especially when he pronounces his RRR'zzz. A Morrissey quote from his last LA concert @ the palladium, "ViVa Mexico, ViVa Mexico"!

C'mon Moz, what's next? Headlining spot at the Whisky au Go-Go? I remember when a Morrissey show in L.A. was a rare and amazing event (remember all those great riots?). Now there's a show every few months it seems. Someone's spreading their legacy a little too thinly these days. that's sad. i ain't goin! bah!

about the translation, you have half the meaning the other half is definetely wrong .Uhm , for the "idiot" who doesn´t understand a bit of spanish, it´s so easy ... extremely easy,I´d say.. It says : Morrissey , the singer , the concert and at the bottom says: by Chico Carreras. (illustration made by ...) ----nothing to do with small or races ---- got it? UnloveaBle.

Who cares if Morrissey likes Mexicans! I like Mexicans. They make wonderful food and some of the Hispanic women are just candy for the eyes. Morrissey needs to find himself a nice latin woman and settle down by the baech in Cali. I also suggest buying a yacht!Anyhow, what Morrissey really needs to do is change his song list! A new album would be nice also! Uh, Uh......Sorry, I was dreaming again.

Okay, If "por chicos correra's" means "for boy racer's" what is up with the apostrophe?? For boy racer's what? The apostrophe indicates possession; it does NOT pluralize a noun! And the Spanish language in general does not indicate possession with an apostrophe, does it? I really hope Morrissey had nothing to do with this ad-it's poor grammar in English or Spanish!

I think Chico Carrera is his new boy toy. The apostrophe does mean possession and if it is accurate, it translates to "For Chico Carrera." Right? Even Moz needs "some." I guess he's feeling a bit lonely after Jake. I guess he finally got his Mexican boy toy. I wonder if he made a pass at Robert, I mean, El Vez?

I can't believe we can't translate that second part correctly. I still think it sais "Por chico correras" For being small, you will run" Well it doesnt really matter, i'm just glad Morrissey writes in Espanol. Maybe someday he and Juan Gabriel will sing together. Then my mother and I could go see them togethere.
Boyracer <Boyracer76@aol.com>
Los Angeles - Thu, Feb 10, 2000 at 14:51:40 (PST) | #37
Well, it doesn't appear that "por chico correra's" makes any sense at all. "for being small you run" would be something like "porque estas chico, corres" "correra" doesn't seem to be a word. "racer" is "corredor" and that apostrophe means that the "racer" possesses something that is not indicated. And it can't be someone's name, because the apostrophe STILL doesn't make any sense. And if the apostrophe is just an accident (i.e. WRONG) then it should be "por chicoS correrOs" (add an "S", replace "A" with "O"). Now, with all of these Mexican fans of Moz, why can't anyone give us a satisfactory translation? Or do you not know how to speak Spanish? Hmmmmm?

Well, Moz is cool, his singing is superb as compared with those actor-to-singer-in-one-day people who wake up one morning thinking they can sing. And well lets just all relax and let him make his money with all sorts of cultures, whether mexican or japaneese, and bring joy with his wonderful songs to our lives. Isnt that why all us Morrissey fans listen to him?
