Recently Radio One DJ John Peel invited listeners to select their 3 all time favourite tracks. 3 Smiths songs appeared:

at no.7 "How Soon Is Now?" , no. 9 "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" and "This Charming Man" at no.22

Sheez! I got no problem with New Order/Joy Division but this (otherwise excellent) list seems weighted rather heavily in their collective favour.

kudos .... especially numbers 3, 4, 14, 20. and a special note on 2....fergal sharkey???!!!(i know i know it's the undertones) but still a great song, notwithstanding the vibrato.

special, mention number NINE (999)...my all time fave smiths song.

Why isnīt The Cure in that list? I think that The Cure have so many great songs, better than many bands that appear in that list.

yes I remember that night... I was going absolutely mad doing my essays being forced by the deadline... with Mr. Peel on... and I didn't have any special expectations for I knew quite well (and sometimes was suffered by) his style... but out of the blue, bang! "There Is A Light", then again - bang!! "How Soon Is Now?"... hand in glove with some pieces of New Order... I thought "God... can this happen again in my life ever?" God bless Peely... oh right, his voters...
