if a band releases somebody elses song as a single it is usually a sign that they are not a great band. and if it becomes popular and people run around singing it I'm going to be mad...it was like when orgy did blue monday. I'd say, "that's a new order song." and people would reply, "who? it is orgy!" ugh

Of course it will be a hit. It's a freakin Smiths cover. It's already a hit. That's what is wrong with music today. The new bands get big off of others work. Using a Smiths song to get big sucks. Why don't they use one of their own songs for the first single? Don't get me wrong, I am interested in hearing it, I just don't think it should be a single. Timm

I SAW THEM PLAY IT LIVE AND THEY DID A GREAT JOB BUT RELEASING IT AS YOUR FIRST MAJOR LABEL SINGEL IS LAME. AT LEAST MOZ WILL BE MAKING ROYALTIES IF IT IS A HIT

I think it's great that they coverd that song(it is my fav smiths song after all), and they are incredible and deserve to be huge, but WHY THE HELL WOULD THEY RELEASE IT AS THEIR FIRST SINGLE?!?! that has to be one of the biggest party fouls ever. A B-side sure, or even in the middle of the Lp, but as a first single? C'mon guys, you're a much better band than that. At least Quicksand was smart enough to make HSIN a single. It just doesn't work. Maybe if they covered a Trial song or something, or maybe something from Holding This Moment, they might be big, but anything short of those records won't cut it!

I hope it doesn't suck, if it does it'll kill the song and it won't ever sound the same to me again. Just like that band who sampled "Boys don't cry" by The Cure, I don't know if anyone has heard it, but it sucks.

Don't get me wrong. I think if it is their first single (remember this does say it is "Rumored") then that would be lame. Big time lame. But Sense Field is still a great band.

RobM is right. But I really think that Sensefield doing a UNBROKEN cover would be awesome. "In The Name Of A Big Hit" would be my vote. What's up with that brother of Robs anyways? Is he going to email me his information or what? RobM should have come up to rock out too.

Save Ferris covered "Come on Eileen" and look how big they got...not neccesarly a bad move (Company wise). and Orgy is another example.

Why in Gods name should Sensefield do an Unbroken cover at all? Fall on Power would be best, though.

well I'd say one of the reasons they're doing the cover is that they know that todays youth don't know who the hell the smiths are (I am an exception) but most dont and they will be able to pass it off as their own.

I think SenseField should cover a Converge song, preferrably "The Saddest Day."Love, Joe Bonomo

What kind of "rock" would Sense Field be? I havent heard of them are they pop rock? heavy? On what level of the rockometer would they be? If such a measuring device existed. I would like to hear the song I just would like to know where on my radio dial I'll be listening.

This should be interesting considering that Morrissey hates 'What Difference Does It Make.' I don't care if I hear kids singing it without knowing where it came from. If there are any real music lovers among them they will be curious to learn about the Smiths and that can only be a good thing. I love the notion of a 15 year old buying Smiths and Morrissey albums in the year 2000. Recently I was drinking in a pub and I put 'How Soon Is Now' on the jukebox. Some kid came up to me and said 'Waow! That's the song from Charmed. Who does it?' From what I gather, after my recommendation that kid went out and bought 'Hatful Of Hollow' and has not left his bedroom since. Have faith. The Kids are alright!

Sense Field is one of my very favorite bands, and their cover of "What difference does it make?" is very good, but it'd be inappropriate if it was their first single. Their new album has been very long awaited, and their sound has changed dramatically from the last album. It would be in bad taste to release a cover as their first single when they've got so many incredible songs of their own to showcase.By the way... if you haven't heard anything by Sense Field, you should definitely check out the huge audio section at my Sense Field site at: http://sensefield.home.att.net

I heard a rumor that members of the Seattle band TRIAL and Ex- members of the now defunct Chula Vista Legends UNBROKEN are teaming up not only to compair hair styles, but to put together a hrdcore medley of SMITHS cover songs. I think they are trying to get popular within the EMO ROCK scene to win points with the ladies..... not sure how true this rumor is but it is something worth looking in to...

For the finest cover of 'What Difference Does It Make' you should check out The Ukrainians(apologies for bad spelling). I haven't heard it in a while but I remember it being fantastic. It is performed in Russian and I (to my discredit) recall not knowing what it was until the chorus.
