The interview is pretty useless. Nothing new, nothing interesting. Mark Simpson is, I think, trying to be write something clever here, but he ends up doing nothing special. "Journalists Who Lie!"
p.s. leave Morrissey's personal life alone. His music is good enough and stands on its own.

I totally agree with the above post.

Simpson book is a load of old codwallop. He's just a conceited magazine journalist trying to a make a fast buck in the USA, by marketing a book towards Morrissey's ever burgeoning fan base both in North and South America. That's not a problem in itself, except that Mr. Simpson has absolutely nothing NEW to say about Morrissey - that hasn't been already been said in Johnny Rogan's excellently researched and brilliantly written 'The Severed Alliance'.

Mr. Simpson may get away with lazy, glib, tired journalism in Attitude magazine week after week, but he's in a different ball park when it comes to biography - especially as his chosen subject has perhaps some of the smartest, cleverest and most knowledgeable fans around!

Going by the dreadful excerpts I've read from the book, the only person Mr. Simpson is fit to write a biography about is Jerry Springer! And that's being generous I'd say.

Example of Simpson lazy trying-to-be-clever-but-failing prose:

"He (Morrissey) is responsible for perverting( I didn't know you could 'pervert' somebody) a generation of young people into believing that pop matters.'

What certainly doesn't matter is this typeset bilge. What a load of old hogwash! I think Simpson is the pervert here for writing such execrable nonsense.

He also quite offensively mixes his metaphors and says Old M should be indicted The Hague for War Crimes Against Humanity! Hardly I'd say. Does Simpson know what a war crime is? And if so does he really think its' worth trying to make a cheap laugh out of it? There is a major gulf between writing a poor pop song for FANS and having your genitals cut off and stuffed down your throat. Simpson's attempt at humour is hardly measured is it!

If Simpson sat down to listen to 'Ouja Board Ouja Board' he'd realized that if it is M's worst ever release, it is certainly better than the average pop-schlock we hear day in day out on the radio. The song has strong sentiment, BUT IS let down by the awful production only. It's still above average. Wham in their hey day or Duran Duran couldn't write a song to better it.

Give Simpson's Book a big miss! The book is not worthy of any intelligent discussion or debate whatsoever

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH LAZY SUNBATHER HOW CAN SOME1 PERVERT A GENERATION INTO THINKING POP MATTERS AS IF PEOPLE DIDNT HAVE MINDS OF THIER OWN.MORRISSEY IS WHAT HE IS, EVEN IF IT ISNT CLEAR AT TIMES.HE WRITES AND SINGS AND SELLS CDS BUT SINCE WHEN IS HE FORCED TO SELL THE KEY TO HIS ROOM, AS IF IT WOULD MATTER TO ANY OF HIS TRUE FANS IF HE WAS GAY, STRAIGHT OR WHATEVER IT SURELY DOESNT MATTER TO ME.

Am I the only one who actually really likes "Ouija Board"? I didn't realize it was so roundly assumed to be bad. I can certainly think of Moz songs I like less.

The "homosexual" tag on Moz bothers me to no end. Why does it always become THE issue? Be AMBIGUOUS! I don't need to hear about people dwelling on the personal things in his life.. and making money off of it.

I think he has some pretty good insight into our Steven. What has offended all of you so? If you've read anything he's written, you'd see just how witty, intelligent and clever Simpson is (I daresay that he's on par with Morrissey, but that would be a crime in these parts).

I thought he had some reasonably insightful things to say, actually. It did feel a bit like he was trying to make his replies witty, but I did like perverting a younger generation into thinking that pop music matters. I think that's true.

I really like Ouija Board, Ouija Board Jim. It's one of my fav. Moz songs. WHy so many people don't particularly care for it I'm clueless.

Pretention to wit shines aside admission to mediocrity. Let Mr. Simpson sway his stylish way.

"And the songs we sing--they're not supposed to mean a thing!"

Well done, Simpson.

Some of you, the ones who like ths Simpson book, are so easily impressed. He has no style, wit, or insight; don't be fooled. There's just so many books and articles that do justice and are more articulate to the Moz and the music. Who gives a %$#@ about the image!

The hardest thing to comprehend about all this is the fact that, in my opinion, as with most film stars and pop music celebrities - a number of total no-marks, with limited knowledge and background, decide to publish the most amazing drivel and nonsense. It really does beggar
belief.
