...this
(older) picture appeared in the Guardian Guide last Saturday
along with a pithy summary of what England expects from
Morrissey these days:

Mozzer' John Robinson, Guardian, Nov 6 99
Rum times, these, for the former St Stephen. Without
record company, Morrissey nevertheless embarks here on a
tour coasting on his reputation as purveyor of salty epigram
rather than as a contemporary musical contender. Nothing
less like a dame, though. As if becoming stouter to
compensate for the flimsiness of his own recent material,
the Morrissey live experience is a bit like being hectored
by a nightclub doorman in 1961 - a comparison which, as a
connoisseur of underworld chic, he would no doubt richly
appreciate. Before you open up a world of Daves, youth clubs
and 'bovver boys', and, realistically, a fairly lively
rockabilly show.
