Houston - Morrissey Birthday Get Together (May 22)
From Abrahan Garza:
Many of
us are planning to meet at Hermann Park <near the duck
pond> at 12 noon. Perhaps bringing flowers and bread
<for the birds>.
If you are in Houston and are a musician interested in
playing some Morrissey/Smiths music, please call me at
713-864-5338. I play guitar and will be there early. Hope to
see you there!

John Cale producing Morrissey?
From Tim:
There has
been a persistent rumour on the Velvet Underground
Discussion forum that John Cale will be producing
Morrissey's next work. Anyone heard about that here?

Johnny Marr - not interested in reunion
From Lorenzo Pizza:
Just a
quick note (for what its worth) to mention that I heard
Robbie Buck interview Johnny Marr for Triple J radio in
Australia yesterday. Most of the discussion centred on the
making of the new Electronic alum but Robbie did ask whether
a reunion with Morrissey was on the cards. Johnny quite
clearly stated he was not interested saying he would not
have the time, said there was no need for him to do it and
wanted to leave his past collaboration with Mozzer to the
past.

Radio show in Germany, May 28
From Florian:
On Friday,
May 28 I'll celebrate Morrissey's 40th birthday by
broadcasting a show called "World of Morrissey"
on local independent radio station "Querfunk" (Karshlruhe,
Germany, 104.8 fm).
From midnight until dawn I'll pay extensive homage to
Mozzer's and The Smiths' back catalogues, play music by
"related" bands and artists and discuss with with
studio guests.
I'm wide to receive mails from fans from all over the world
who'd like to participate in this programme by telling their
favourite Moz-stories, expressing their views on the
"World of Morrissey" as such or simply requesting
some song or other. Exchange of tapes/MiniDiscs can be
arranged individually.

Black Crowe quotes Morrissey
From Chris Lark:
Even I
don't believe this. On the official Black Crowes website (http://www.tallest.com) in
their "What's Wrong With Steve?" section
where you can ask their drummer Steve Gorman questions - he quotes Morrissey:
...Oh sure, they
say, I knew him way back when. I knew him before the fame,
the adulation, the off-shore bank accounts, the horrible
hair decisions, the self important nonsensical musings, the
paranoia fueled mood swings, the ludicrous political agenda,
Oh, yeah, I knew him before all that. I knew him when he was
just simply Steve. I knew him pretty well, come to think of
it. I knew a lot of his secrets. I was a confidante of
sorts, you could say, I had his ultimate trust. He took my
calls on his wallet phone. He spent hours bouncing
super-balls off of walls and was content. He didn't have a
dime, but yet, as Morrissey once said, "In the days
that you were hopelessly poor, I just liked you more".
Maybe I'll just jerk his chain a little to remind him of all
of us back here, in his past. Well, nice try...

"Moz" in Aggressive Rollerblade magazine
From Scott:
In the
current issue of the Skate mag Daily Bread (#28), the
music reviewer's name is Moz and he is reviewing a Kill
Holiday cd. I don't know who they are but he says they
are a mix between Morrissey and Suede. It's just bizarre to
see that in a hardcore skate magazine.
