Irish dates in March?

From Aaron:

So I went to the "Oslo Rockabilly Festival" today and saw Boz Boorer playing with the Deltas... damn it was great! I also met up with Boz and he told me a little about Morrissey's future plans also:

Boz says he hasn't seen Morrissey since the Maladjusted tour December 97. Seemingly Moz has been in LA since... God knows what he's been up to, but anyhow he has moved back to Manchester for a spell. Boz also tells me that Morrissey wants to do a couple (2-3) dates in Ireland in march, and the gang  (with a new drummer) will get together for some practising. Also Boz and Alain have been sending him some songs which will be on the new album and Boz says that the ones he has sent are the bomb... he couldn't tell for sure when the album would be out, but with all the guys in England they should be able to get it recorded before the end of this year... besides that he said Morrissey was doing good and seemed to be in a good mood...

"Heaven Knows..." in Chillicothe

From Jered Cruder in Salt Lake City, UT:

I am attending the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. One of the films that I've seen is called Chillicothe by a rather unknown film maker. Anyways at the end of the film during the credits, The Smiths' "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" is played. in speaking to the actors in the film it turns out that the writer and director are both big Smiths fans.

"Smiths lack bass" - Asian Dub Foundation

From lEElo*_*:

I was reading an Asian Dub Foundation interview from NME a few seconds ago and I came across a Smiths mention. Kinda surprising...I didn't even know Smiths fans were adf fans until I had a listen to their newest release, Rafi's revenge. web page:

http://www.users.dircon.co.uk/~guywood/nmeinter.htm

quote:

In indie they think only guitar and vocals can convey emotion. The Smiths took the bass out of rock music. Mani from the Roses was good, Steven Hanley of The Fall is good, but most indie kids are missing out. And even big beat stuff now is just programmed indie - where's the bass?

Moz in sports

From Doug in Tustin, CA:

I found this rather amusing - as I was watching Fox Sports News last week they name dropped Morrissey and the Smiths on one of their basketball recap segments.

Kentucky was playing Georgia that night and, well, the head coach of Kentucky is named Tubby Smith and his son Saul Smith plays for him, while his other son Gigi Smith plays for Georgia.

The amusing part was when the announcer said all of the Smiths were there, except for Morrissey.
