The signatures look authentic from the picture, but then again I've only seen Morrissey's. Compact disks where available then, and Warren take another look at the poster.

Uh Warren, haven't you heard of the band James? They opened for (among other bands) The Cure and The Smiths. If you need some info on the band, I would highly recommend the "I Started Something I Couldn't Finish" 12 inch or the "Sweet And Tender Hooligans" single. On it, you will hear the Smiths covering James's "What's The World" recorded in Glasgow September 25, 1985. I would also recommend the 1993 album Laid. The title track is probably their most famous song (in the US anyway.)

Warren I have to say it serves you right to get the abuse on this one - There is no reason to attack another comment like that unless you have the knowledge to do it correctly - Did you even read the topic or were you just trying to pick on someone for attention!

Warren - totally sorry to burst your American Chespaw bubble but if you truly love Moz then you would know (and possibly) appreciate James (the band). Aaron, good post, I think it would be a good start for Warren however I must pass on that "Laid" may be the number one in America - as far as units sold and air time however many Americans rather enjoy "Seven". Not to go over board here but I thought this piece of trivia may be relevant to the "Warren's" of the world, this is regarding a 'rumor' as to how the band James started to use the daisy logo, "…One story is that the daisy relates to the Smiths. In 1985, James opened for the Smiths on their UK tour. Rumor is, seeing as how the two bands sounded similar, one zealous Moz fan, who had brought daisies to throw at him, threw the daisies one band early. The band decided to have fun with this, and adopted the daisy as their logo. Incidentally, the over-anxious fan's daisies were supposedly collected by a stage hand and returned to her to be thrown again when the Smith's came on stage." - courtesy of stutter@eclipse.net

Warren is the biggest Morrissey fan at Chespaw High, he knows everything there is to know about the Smiths and Morrissey and he actually sings just like Moz, I love it when he sings!

Get a grip Delia! Warren is far from Moz - in fact I think it is an insult to even compare them - Get out of the computer lab and go back to class.

Star-child, I would still insist that the song Laid is their most well-known songs. It was huge back in '93 when alternative was going mainstream....I won't argue with you about the album "Seven" though...

Actually, Warren really does rock. He sounds a lot like Morrissey, but has a more natural texture to his voice. He doesn't try so hard and therefore his voice sounds very warm. Suprising but true.

How old is Warren, anyway? Seven and a half?I must say that "Sit Down" is the song by the James I´ve heard most on the radio. It was huge while this Manchester thing was going.

Aaron - Agreed, Laid was the big one. It could have been the whole Brian Eno influence, as well - who really knows.? Regardless, I dig your music appreciation!

I really doubt that the reason for the popularity of 'Laid' is because of the Eno connection. Oh, but if it were true! Oh, and I think 'Wah Wah' is the best James album, in fact I would say that's the only one that I like more than a couple of songs off of. Of course, that one IS the one that sounds the most 'Enoish'

Warren - The Morrissey site really thinks a lot of your comments, I find that surprising. I am thrilled for you and your Uncle being on a road trip and all but school is really getting boring without you here. And by the way, the maps we made together are already starting to fade, you better come back soon so that we can re-do them.

Kid Absynth, I concur that Eno's influence most likely propelled James into the mainstream, especially in the States. I was fortunate enough to be working on some archive projects at an unspecified university located in Gainsville, Florida and it was there that I actually sat down and talked with Tim Booth and Jim Glennie, what an experience. Conveniently for me, the university was full of students without a grimace of enlightenment as to how enormous Tim and Jim were, at the time. - imagine if they only were aware that they could have shared Tim Booth's breath who shared breath with Moz! So, we quietly sat and talked while the students pushed and shoved their way past us, having no idea that they were breezing by true musical geniuses.

Where on earth is Chespaw anyway? In any event, James rules! Moz once said that Tim Booth and Co. was the best band in the world. By the by, does anyone remember Bradford (early '90s), another one of Morrissey's fav bands? Its one and only album, "Shouting Quietly," is brilliant! What ever happened to frontman Ian H? Oh, and Warren, at times it's good to be slow to speak and quick to listen. In love,
