Unloveable - an amateur film

Thanks to Søren Pedersen for the link to Unloveable, a 10 min. 45 sec. short film. It's today's pick at AtomFilms:

Unloveable
UK | 10:45
Comedy International

Director: Peter Naylor, Carl Hunter
Producer: Domestic Films
Principal Cast: John Daniels, Megan Ott

Presented in conjunction with the Edinburgh International Film Festival

Synopsis
A young American's search for meaning takes her under bridges, to graveyards, inside coffeehouses, and outside the Manchester mansion of angst-rocker Morrissey. One local lad has seen it all before -- and he's ready to cash in!

Definitely worth checking out (one of the funniest things I've personally seen in a long while). The Real Player G2 is required - for some reason the link on their page wouldn't open up on my IE browser, but it worked with Netscape. If you want to just type in the URL into the Real Player "open location" feature, I've put them in this text document.

According to the credits at the end, the Council Worker was Mike Joyce ( although the quality on mine is so poor that I couldn't tell ). The events portayed here are probably more likely than you'd imagine ( American tourists are gererally considered to be fair game ). The acting wasn't of the highest standard though - and the Mancunian guy sounded alot like Ryan Giggs.

CM - Are you referring to Ryan Giggs the soccer player?

Help! I'm on a Mac. PRogressive Networks (aka Real Video) doesn't make the G2 player for a Macintosh. Anyone willing to convert it to Quicktime?

Thanks!

Is there another Ryan Giggs I should know about? - its odd that he should speak with a Manchester accent given that he's supposed to be Welsh. Actually I saw him this week in the Arndale ( "wow", I hear everyone gasp ).

Does anybody else think this "film" was a little childish? People, honestly ask yourself (if you are not a new spawn...)would you REALLY stand outside Morrissey's home and shout what she did? I doubt he'd be impressed-I know I am not!

"Unloveable" is a nice wry take on the fandom thing. It must be fairly painful viewing for some of the American voids. Truth be told though, it works as a pretty good comment on any fan.

I'm a 30 year old Mozzer fan from Leeds and I cringed when I thought back to being 15 and wanting to do all that homage stuff.

Oh, btw please don't call it soccer. It's football.

Easy on Joyce, Jeff. I applaud her knowledge or at least her effort. I am sure that if we think about it - there are areas of the world that may have the football and soccer terms reversed - no fault of hers. I respect the chic for giving it a try and posting her question. Joyce, how goes the day in Indio?

To "Paul Lynde's Ghostwriter"---obviously you are very young and newly involved in this "coza nostra". (Circa Maladjusted or MAYBE Southpaw...)I can only hope that someday you will learn and understand what I mean---by the way-"Dreams....are just....Dreams"
