Warren,I think that he is referring to people like you… STOP! using the home page as a discussion board! If you want to write all this crap go to the discussion board. This space is dedicated to comments about the news headlines. I'm interested in reading what people have to say about a particular headline not about you and your rebuttals to people's comments. Please stop! Oh, please don't respond. I'm not interested in what you have to say….

well, anyway. arguing on message boards about things that can not be reasonably debated is a waste of all of our time. it took me 30 seconds to read the above exchange, which has not enriched my morrissey-solo experience in any way. david is clearly dedicated and diligent, and should be commended for his efforts. don't be disrespectful by driving people away from his site.

David is quite right. It really sickened me to find out that there were messages posted under assumed identities. This is a terrific site, and these childish games are undermining David's hard work. I agree that the best coarse of action is to IGNORE it.

I think if people want to be obnoxious they can get their own message board at www.insidetheweb.com and trash it. They can say what ever the heck they like, and instead of using someone else's discussion board for graffiti. This is one of the best kept of sites I've ever seen and I think that David does and excellent job with everything. It's easy to see how much work goes into a site like this (I should know, I have to upkeep three sites myself!)

I agree with David, the best way to get rid of all these boring people is to ignore them. It’s not the first time they “infect” our lovely site (remember George O. and all that stuff about how crap Moz is and how great Echo & the Bunnymen is?). Please don’t waste any single second of your life paying them any kind of attention.

I DON'T GET IT!!! Why is everyone harping on me? What is it that you think I'm doing that is different from everyone else? Everything I write is about Morrissey and The Smiths. How is that wasting time? I don't think I'm wasting anyones time. It is OTHER people who have nothing about Moz to write, so they attack my comments. Its them everyone should be mad at. NOT ME!!!

I just wanted to say thanks to David for a wonderful site, it is my "lifeline" to the world of Morrissey and it is comforting to realize at times that I'm not the only one who understands the magic.Unfortunately it seems of late that people are posting ruinous, thoughtless and frankly inane comments on this site and it really needs to end. Let's discuss the various nuances of he who is Morrissey, why his work means so much, and for God's sake STOP blasting each other and talking about Steven allegedly being "bald and overweight." I've seen no evidence of this and I highly doubt anyone who posts comments of the like have seen dear Steven recently--so please shut up. If you don't like him, then don't visit Morrissey-solo. Again, thank you David. Morrissey, wherever you are, I hope you're singing now....and will be coming to Ohio on your tour....and visiting me at my house for tea and pasta :-)

This is a great site and it's constantly improving thanks to David T's fantastic work. Our little society has only started going downhill in the past couple of weeks ... but what goes down must go up. We love Morrissey, and he loves us, so why can't we all just love each other? love, love, love, that's what it's all about. I love you awwwwwwwwwwwl.

Well David brings up many good points and hopefully we will all respect them. I know personally I have held back on submitting details and stories that I have had because of the ridicule that now seems all too common these days. I am sure I am not the only one either. Seeing people getting hammered over things that others dont believe or pictures that they have sent in has become tiring and actually sad. Hopefully we will not be missing things of interest to the faithful following that visits this site on a regular basis. But at this rate we probably already have. Here's to a brighter future!!

I love this site and often turn to it for reliabe information and insight. I have been quietly admiring many on this board however I have become unusually annoyed by the particular ineptness of some of the less educated words that are placed here. Warren needs to be taken O-U-T, for good. He is obviously younger than he suggests he is. True Moz fans would focus on the man himself, not themself. In the words of the great Oscar Wilde , "It is only the intellectually lost who ever argue"

Chas, Because you are "arguing" the fact that I should be O U T shows us all that you are "intellectually lost" and therefore cannot be taken seriously. You also mention that I am very young and should be O U T due to my age? Maybe we should ban others based on their height and what country they are from??? And remember this, any fool can quote Oscar Wilde, that doesn't make you smart. Warren is OUT!!!!

How did Echo and the Bunnymen get involved into this discussion? And why do they call their singer, and I use that term loosely, "Big Mac?" The only "Big Mac" that I would even consider seeing is the one that plays for St. Louis Cardinals. Morrissey is one of the most brilliant singers ever to take the stage, and Ian Mac is not on that list.-Sorry about not sticking to the topic guys, but I just had to respond to such blasphemous statement.

I never understood why people take i-net messages so seriously. Does it even matter what someone says if they're not even facing you? How can anyone get worked up over something so phoney? I visit this site for the news--for that purpose it is very useful. I contribute to the discussions every once in awhile because I am generous and thoughtful, but the message boards here are 99% a waste of time because most people are selfish and lack good communication skills. Julie, Watching w/ a Grin is *not* Morrissey because he would never send kudos to D.T. That's not supposed to be an insult, it's just the truth. But I'll admit he/she/it does a good immitation!

Amy Beth made a good point earlier. She said, "Let's discuss the various nuances of he who is Morrissey..." and not all the other inane comments that end up on the message board. With that in mind, I would have to say that I love Morrissey's nuances. He has some of the best nuances in the entertainment industry (maybe the world). One time (at band camp), I saw a picture of Morrissey's nuances that a friend obtained on the black market. It was pretty amazing. Come on, Amy Beth, Lighten up. Most of what is on this site is news (at best) and gossip. But, it seems that people enjoy it that way (check out the site's hit counter). Look at how many people posted messages regarding the name of the tour. Remember the question posted not too long ago, "What 3 songs would you have the Smiths play at their reunion?" There were scores of responses. Hey, if you want a better discussion, stop griping about how inane the comments are, and pose an "intelligent" question. I'm sure it will be something like "In 'Disappointed', when Morrissey wrote 'truly, truly, truly', did he mean truly or really?" Can you imagine how ridiculous this site would be if every topic was like that? Besides, who has the time? Some of us have jobs. If you need something more fulfilling...try real human interaction. It's wonderful.

I don't think anyone should waste their time weeding out fake messages. How do we know this person isn't at a friend's house using their computer? It's much easier for someone to say, "hey, that's not me" and it goes away. It's not like any of us are public figures who would be damaged by this.Communication skills or not, people can't help but be selfish. If they don't have any opinions of their own to cling to, I would be afraid of them. Either they are lying, or they have absolutely no self esteem. There is that part of them that says, "I'm a person, too" that rears it's ugly head. People have needs and they can't go around satiating other people's their entire lives without some sort of void. I've seen it in action and I've seen the results. It's not very pretty. Nobody wants what ideas they've been raised with suddenly ripped away. Do you know what that's like for someone to sit you down and tell you everything you thought is wrong? For some people, it is liberating because they already knew that this is "the truth" that was kept for them for so long and were too afraid to think, while many others go zany. Unfortunatly, there are many people who mistake something said in general terms as being a direct attack on themselves. Some people are kooks and you can't really stop them.

Someone seems a bit acrimonious after attending the student orientation last night at Chespaw High. We were not intentionally trying to make you feel bad about missing out on the happiness of the summer student exchange program. Am I off here by saying this- I thought this board was for actually talking about Morrissey or some other related topic. Not using poor David's Site as a place for personal attacks. I, for one, believe that no matter if you are in Highschool, college, or out in the work force you can still conduct yourself in an adult manner - and if you can not you should take yourself to the YM site! FYI for you fans out there who are not already aware : Morrissey will be at Coachella (Empire Polo Field) on 10/9 and 10/10. For george o - Echo and the Bunnymen will be there too! Phoney? Does this mean I shouldn't go?(hah! I was about to type that sentence when the UPS guy shows up with my ticket....creepy) Yes, and it is easy to get worked up over what people say on the internet. And there is something about transcending electrons when in real life it seems incredibly daunting. Kind of like how people get worked up over Morrissey's words when they have never met him. Are his words "phoney" as well? The medium is different but the concept remains the same. And just like being a rich and famous pop star, nobody knew you beforehand and you are allowed to fill up the space with whatever comes to your mind. And just like being a pop star, you can hide things from the public that you just don't want them knowing about. Nobody is required to come here and state what they really feel. Why? Because nobody in this setting is actually expected to be their words....unless they chat to someone and plan to meet them, then that is totally different. Nobody is required to give their entire life story. It might be incredibly boring. People lie everyday and yet you have the benefit of body language to tell if they are actually being shy and uncomfortable about the thought of being rejected. Some people are shy about expressing the real side of what they are unless they are in incredibly private situations. This board is incredibly public and it affects what you say. You don't have that here, so don't punish people on that level.

I must apologize to Mr. Rizzo for daring to assume that people who are intelligent enough to recognize the merits of Morrissey could also possibly be overall wonderful people, with open minds and a desire to discuss things seriously....how dare I assume this? This page in particular is testament to the fact that there are perhaps only a scant few individuals who are more than half a person.By the by, human contact can only be fulfilling for so long. As a Morrissey "fan", don't you know this? For your personal records, you may note that I am happily married, have several friends (though only 2 are Moz fans) and have an overwhelmingly full-time job. My preference however is to venture into the desolation that can only be provided by solitude and Morrissey's voice. In my naivety, I tend to assume that other Morrissey fans are unique and clever as well. Forgive me. Do continue your riveting conversation, I so enjoy your intellectually challenging thoughts and perceptions! I now exit this page once and for all....you may post your scathing commentary now.

Well. I for one plead guilty for posting under different names, although never in support of a post I made under a different name. I think. Heh! And never, NEVER do I use anyone else's. Hell, names posted depend on mood, and under which name I happened to be using while playing Quake that day. Still... David, this is a fine site, and props to you for creating a forum so many people find interesting. As far as abusing anonymity, the only abuse I can imagine is posting under another's "handle". This is wrong. Everyone is anomonous here. This is part of the attraction. And considering the limited amount of debatable material available for discussion, I think it's only natural that people will tend to attack each other instead of addressing the main topic as would probably be prefered by the host (bless 'em). Not to say that the material provided is inadequate, it is not.
