Yes, and Boz forgot to mention his other dates which were included in an e-mail he responded to from me. He is also going to be at Memphis and Nashville, at the clubs/bars Hi-Tone Bar, and the Sultan. I am going to try to make it out and see him! I just hope I am old enough to get in!

Poor Boz is going to get flooded by e-mails, iznit he?But that's nice of him..I do suppose Is it just me or does Boz write the best songs of the last few years? Satan rejected...; More you Ignore...;Teachers are Afraid...; Spring Heeled Jim; Lifeguard Sleeping..;I can have Both; Maladjusted, etc.. Shame he doesn't write a bigger percentage of the songs. OK, now I sound like a suck-up; but i think Boz is the (much) better of the two (or three, if you count Spencer) Anyway that's my 2 cents, and while I continue to suck up to Boz (I'm sincere, really) - I'd like to recommend Adam Ant's 'Wonderful' LP- it's pretty good- but i'm biased being an Ant fan for awhile now. Vive le Rock! Ok?

Ok. I confirm what Rowdy Yeats has told (don't forget the great "Jack the Ripper"). Great Boz! You're the best (after Johnny Marr of course).

Boz is a very good guitar player. But I don't think there is a doubt in anyones mind that Marr is who Moz needs to team up with. Come on Smiths get back together!!!!

I don't know if it's a contest between Boz and Alain, Rowdy, but, what the hell, assuming it is (and also reminding you that Boz wrote Ammunition, my favourite track off Alma Matters, I'd Love To -- Moz's second best B-side ever, Jack The Ripper -- Moz's third best B-side ever, and acknowledging that Spencer wrote the best Morrissey B-side ever , Lost) let's give Alain his due: Boxers, Sunny, Swallow in his Neck, Nobody Loves Us, Wide to Receive, Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself, the vastly underrated Southpaw, Tomorrow, National Front Disco, Glamorous Glue etc. The point is, their strengths compliment each other. Morrissey would be lucky with either one of them. Although everyone is, understandably, caught up in Marr mania at the moment, at some point people should consider just how talented both Alain and Boz are as guitarists, sure, but more importantly as songwriters.

Can anyone please answer this question??? On MYOB I think Blackeyed Susan starts off as a totally awesome song (and ends that way too) How come Moz totally ruins it in the middle by emptying the silverware drawer on the floor and banging pots and pans. If he would have written one more verse for the song, it might have made the cut as one of Warrens all time Fave Moz songs. "Blackeyed Susan rest and do nothing because were very aware that you do not care....."

Well, i didn't mean to slight Mr White. It just seems that many of my recent Moz faves have been credited to Moz/Boorer. And secondly, Boorer wrote what, maybe two on Southpaw and three on Maladjusted- I'd just like to see maybe 50/50.As far as Moz contributers, I thought the couple of songs Andy Rourke wrote were pretty good, too ('Girl Least Likely To' is a fave of mine) And that Marr guy was pretty good, too (Ha ha)

Yes, Boz totally rules, and so does Alain. I would also recommend Adam Ant's Wonderful, as Boz totally rocks out on that. The two really do complement each other(Alain and Boz), and I think Spencer rocks out too. I heard he's(Spencer) leaving though, and that would just suck arse.

jimmy - no, it's not the star lanes (whatever they are) ... the star bar is on moreland avenue, just north of euclid, in little five points ... opposite the point (now closed) and the vortex. the star bar is a wonderful, intimate, =small= venue that books a lot of rockabilly bands.btw, el vez is playing in atlanta in september ... wonder if moz'll show up for that?!

Stinia, I have read Severed Alliance twice. Its a book about the Smiths and Johnny and Moz breaking up. Also I own all his CDs. Plus David does a great job here of keeping us all up to date. Just keep reading Smith's stuff and pretty soon you'll be in the know too. If you have any questions I can probably answer them for you. Warren is out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone who is seeking info on Moz should avoid that trash written by Johnny Rogan, "the severed alliance". What i find to be most puzzling is that no one seems to understand why Morrissey was so upset about that book. While, YES, it is full of information about the Smiths' history, the reason that book sucks is Rogan expounds on Morrissey's life as though he were this AVERAGE person turned pop star- when he is not. Morrissey is a genius who is VERY self aware and unlike most people does not waste his breath understating his intellect. You know what i mean by reading the interviews - he does not play dumb or feign interest to make the other party feel better. This sort of behavior - misinterpreted as "arrogance" by the mostly insecure observer - gets under people's craw, naturally. Rogan writes Moz up as a self-obsessed, insensitive snob, as though Morrissey needed some hack writer to try and "rake up his mistakes" as it were. So in conclusion, if you want to know about Morrissey, listen to the lyrics; it's all there. Good night and thank you.

Who is Sonny George? It don't think Morrissey's guitarists are competing against each other. I like Alain (whose name is always misspelt). I like Boz. Go, man, go!!!

Unloveable:It did strike me, when I read Severed Alliance, that Rogan might have had (unauthorised?) access to M's diary. If so, that would be quite a good reason to be pissed off with somebody, even if you weren't in any case a tiny bit of a primadonna. I don't have the book to hand, but I vaguely recall Rogan referring to the lyric "It lasted 20 years, 7 months, and 27 days " and glossing it with a comment which was something along the lines of "This was not a particularly important day. Morrissey fed the ducks in the park and then watched Carry On Camping on BBC 2" (or something like that). I remember wondering at the time how Rogan could know these details without either making a decent guess (i.e. making it up) or having access to some very personal direction. I also wondered whether the lyric "you had to creep into my room/just to read my diary" was a reference to that. Anyhow, just wondering. And off topic

Hey Kids,No slight to Mr. Whyte, but Boz has always been the X factor in "The Lads." His fills picked the crummy Kill Uncle material out of the gutter on the '91 tour, he added some great guitar flourishes to the Your Arsenal stuff live (listen to him on the live Glamourous Glue next time the SNL repeat is on.) What is best is always opinion based, but I think ALL of Boz's songs with Moz have been amoungst his strongest. The Adam Ant record is alright, but if you dig Boz, get some of his rockabilly stuff. The Sonny George record is pretty good, the recent Boz and the Highrollers CD is lots of fun, and the Cowboy Barnes and his Drinkin' Buddies CD is awesome. Not to mention the Polecats stuff. There's much more too, too much to list here, the list of production credits for Sir Boz is also lengthy. And in addition to all this he's a great guy.

Warren,You were asking about US tour dates, and this hasn't been confirmed, but a friend of mine works for the Metro Atlanta Performing Arts Commission (MAPAC) and during a recent rehersal at the Fabulous Fox downtown, he heard some of the Fox Employee's talking about some dates that have been blocked off on the calendar for later this year when Moz is considering coming to town. I saw Moz at the Fox back in like 1991 or something, and it was the best show/venue combination I have ever witnessed! Anyway, just a little tidbit! By guys.......

Charming Man, I was at the Fox also here in Atlanta, and yes, what a great show & venue. So, looking forward to Boz here in Atlanta at the Star Bar on 02SEP. Hope Morrissey will be back at the Fox -- the best venue in the world -- this fall 1999.

I'm going even if it were called "Power Rangers go to Egypt Tour '99" - Wed, Aug 18, 1999 at 15:31:09 (PDT) | #36
Suzanne sums it up nicely. I've been lucky enough to speak to Boz over the phone a few times and then, finally, make his aquintance at a Polecats (almost) reunion in NYC a few Winter's ago. He is the nicest celebrity I've ever met and definately the funniest. It was the coldest and windiest night I ever remember being outside. The metro area had been frozen for weeks. The place was so crowded that the band members (there were three openers) and F.O.T.B. had to stand around outside in a semi-covered L-shaped alley-way. Somehow, Boz kept everyone's spirits up. He had everyone laughing and told interesting, non-Morrissey related, stories. He even gave my freind and I promo items, records from his label, autographs, pictures, and super-rare Smiths items from his collection. (I think he worked at Rough Trade at some point). To top it off, we're outside, frozen, somewhat protected from the howling wind, and he offers to play some demo's to my freind and I. Keep in mind, this entails going up six flights of stairs in an outdoor parking deck a city block away. As much as I want to hear the demo's he may present to Morrissey, I tell him, "No, you don't have to. It's too cold and you have to play later". Before long Boz is playing the idea's that later became "Southpaw". Yes, BOZ IS A SAINT. note: Cheryl and I do not know how to repay you John W (Boz's freind) for that wonderful night.

Boz I would have to say i s one of the best guitarist in the world... I put him up there with the Edge(boz fav) Johnny(Radiohead), Noel(oASSis), Bernard Butler(ex-suede),Verve guitarist(forgot name.)which all my faves! I also think being a close observer of music and Mozz place in it all in order for Moz to get out of his slump he needs more rocking songs like TOMORROW, and the infamous JACK THE RIPPER which ultimately means more Boz compositions!!!!! I got a chance to meet him awhile back here at a POLECATS show in LONGBEACH, CA. I had terrible car trouble getting there but i was able to see the show. Let me tell ya the guy freakin rocked!!! the place was packed and everyone was entranced by the Polecats and Boz whailing guitars he got the crowd so worked up he crowd surfed while playing the guitar!!!!! I was able to meet the POLECATS after and the Boz man himself. It was before Maladjusted albumn came out and there were rumors that Moz had called it quits around this time. As me and a couple of my friends hung around him this late night outside in the parking lot, we explained all what we had heard about Moz and the band. While sitting on the hood of his car finishing off a drink he laughed at what we told him. He took his time and reassured us that moz was not throwing in the towel and that the band was okay. the conversation went on and we ended up talking about my car problems. He appreciated that I was able to come down for the show and offerd some help in getting me and my buddies home. To this day I still cant believe how super coool this guy was Rock On Boz....Seeya at Cochella!
