Isle of Dogs ... is an island in London? on the Thames or something?

Isle of Dogs is a tough part of East London. A few years ago it voted in a British National Party member as a local councillor (who didn't keep his seat for long).

Expect more minor controversy here in England with that tour title, The Isle Of Dogs. As the only other Brit has already pointed out in a message earlier, the connotations are too grim to bear.

Commemorating the name of a fiercely racist part of London is not, I must state, tantamount to endorsing the loony right but at the same time it just seems to be another needless attempt to court sensationalism. C'mon Mozzer.

The Isle of Dogs doesn't only have racist connotations; it's also houses Canary Wharf and the Docklands which are business/enterprise districts with modern office blocks and chic restaurants and cafes.

However, playing Dresden and Leipzig is likely to attract his skinhead mates.

Argonaut - thanks for clearing that up. It took me all of two minutes on the web to find out a bit more about the Isle of Dogs...

Racism is everywhere - you can't attribute it to a community.

Well, the rumour is that he'll start the tour in England, Nottingham Rock City, just down the road from me. Have you seen Rock City? It's tiny! I might have to be quick with the old credit card....but I'll never be as quick as Iain...

Wht's interesting here is that the first German date is only 4 days after the Coachella gig on the West coast. Morrissey sure isn't leaving himself a lot of travel time here.

On a side note - I searched for info. on Isle of Dogs - I couldn't find anything about the NF or racists - all I could find is how this area used to be a port slum and is now bustling with huge office complexes and fancy cafes. Maybe Moz sees some similarity between this part of London and his own career/situation? Of course the NME can be trusted to stir up some muck about this situation.

donīt know if moz likes *the germans* in general, but i know i donīt like this *us here* and *you there*-talk: we all (well, almost all, that is) have a serious thought under our nicely styled hair that should keep us together: shoplifters from all states unite and take over!

there are more than enough to fight and oppose, so, why waste the good time of fighting the people you like, who will fall defending your name...

stay handsome!

Help. I will in France on vacation around the time of Moz's first two dates in Germany. Can anyone advise of the distance/time it takes to get to Cologne or Hamburg by train from Paris? I really need to figure this out so I can order a ticket!I live here in the States and can't wait to see Moz in Deutschland!
Please e-mail me with any information. Thanks, everyone.

Yeah, all of Mozzer's skinhead mates are dying to see him. At the last Moz gig I went to, all the boot boys in the front sang along and most of them cried when he sang the heartbreaking songs. My sweet and tender fascist friends want to see El Vez too - they love Elvis and they love Mexicans!

Why is this continuing? What do you want from me? I said I'm going.

I know it's easy for you to torture somebody who is barely an adult and was having to not only learn how to function, but to do it under those circumstances nearly killed me. You'll never understand what that year was like because you don't care. You imagine I'm something that I'm not. It's not like I'm surrounded by people who are eager to help me. I have to do everything myself, and I'm constantly milked by people for everything I have without an ounce of gratitude, which is why I come off as an @#!!!.

And that applies to all the other things you are hoping I can achieve for myself. I really feel like a complete embarassment in that department. I wish I could proudly announce that I'm making leaps and bounds and people are enthusiastic, but they don't give a damn. It's hard to make any progress doing this sort of thing without having the ability to make people care. I really want to try. That was the biggest reason I did in the first place. You should have seen me the first time. I was a complete basketcase, yet I tried just for you. Why? Because even if nothing were to happen between us, I was going to have something to show and to prove to you that I can be someone. I want to be something you can be proud of. I've never tried like that for anyone. I was truly starting from a zero point. I couldn't find anyone to take me seriously, and therefore, I had to do it all by myself. It was tedious and I had to force myself into doing new things, but I did it. I wanted to prove that I don't need your help that you could be doubly proud that I can go from zero to 60 mph and earn the name on my own. That all you did was see it in me, and I could proudly say that the success I had was my own. But, despite all the rotten breaks I've had in the past couple of months, I still want to try. I don't want to use you for anything, and if you ask anyone I know, I don't use anyone for anything. As with everything in my life, the vast majority of it I can point to and say is mine.

The sad thing is, I don't know what ends you are hoping to achieve, but leaving all of my feelings out of it of what I wish would happen, I'm going no matter how grim you make this look. Even if you completely humiliate me and kick me out, at least I can live knowing an answer of some sort, and I can get my life back. It's not that I want it over that simply. I just want everything cleared away.

Anyone around who intends to go to the same concert?
To all the jealous ones, especially in the US: we had just one date during the Maladjusted tour and the last but one concert was in December 1992..

There's no veggie food, although I hear the tea's good.

But perhaps if he's visiting straight after Germany he's planning to follow a well-worn route.

And what I said to those yobbos who won't leave me alone is not true. I'm as free as a bird. I read it as a tip in a book once.

But, now you can see. It's mostly been guys like that my entire life. Surely, I would luck out and find a nice guy who I would be dating? No. I'm quite inexperienced. It's been years since I've kissed a guy. I've never been kissed by one who actually liked me. One was using me to get back at his ex, and the other had a girlfriend out of town. It's quite embarassing. I really didn't want you to know that either, but I suppose it's time to come clean.

Your friend
lonelyheart - Thu, Aug 12, 1999 at 19:59:12 (PDT) | #50

dear friend,
this is no point you should worry about too much. times of kissing come and go, they never stay. so do times of beeing kissed. and if you kiss a male or female, well, do whatever you like, there is nothing you should feel ashamed of. you just got one life, may it be long, and on your last day on this planet, you will look back. what can be better than thinking then "i made everything as i wanted it to be".
then hit your own shoulder and say "very well done".
take care

unruly boyracer <Steffen.Schultz@dlh.de>
- Fri, Aug 13, 1999 at 02:32:04 (PDT) | #51

It's not very simple as you claim. You don't know how much someone's life can improve because someone cared. The most boring and tedious of days lifted up by a good laugh with someone. I was at that point of nothingness. I was happy I had nothing. I had gained nothing by the alternatives and shut myself away for years thinking that even though I was alone, I was better off. The core of my insides rotted away. I never kept my word because I figured my friends wouldn't care for me once they got to know me. I began making cruel jokes to people at their faces because it didn't matter. They were just another one that was going to use me, or forget about me after all I had given to them. I had quit wanting anything for myself. I aspired for nothing personally in anything.

Then one day, someone did come along. It was like waking up from a long sleep. I looked at my life and became deeply ashamed at what I didn't have. I didn't want them to see me like that, so I wanted to run from them. Then, I realized I couldn't do that, so I tried to stay and fight.

Sadly, I didn't know how to fight from all the years of my own neglect of myself, and I lost.

A person can be worth as much as what aspirations you have for yourself. They give you strength and they give you assurance. You can't achieve anything unless you touch the hearts of people at your goal. Nothing is done in a vaccuum.
