Thanks to Buddy for the following:

I was speaking with a friend of Boz and Alain from the band. And he asked Alain about any new material for a new album. Alain came down to L.A. and they were laying down tracks for a new album and seeking out labels. Alain even said that the songs they have been working on are a lot better than the last few albums.

He also told him how on Morrissey's birthday, he and Morrissey were driving around L.A. and drove by the Roxy during the 40th birthday party. Well, they pulled over in front of the place and Alain took a picture of Morrissey underneath the sign stating that it was Morrissey's birthday. Just thought that was kinda funny since everyone inside were all hoping Morrissey would show up and he was right outside.

[update 6/29] - From D:

Hello Everyone,

I met Alain at a record store in Melrose today... let me say he was a humble and gracious man.. and I asked him about the album and the Roxy night. Alain told me that Moz and him had "stuff" written down and were just waiting for "the man" to decide to go into the studio. Alain also confirmed what happened at the Roxy party, he had a guilty smirk while talking about it. Alain seemed startled that someone recognized him, especially me, I looked all hip hopped out =)!

We sat through some really crappy bands inside the Roxy only to find out that Moz was actually outside. I'm not bitter but darn that Roxy policy of no in's and out's. I couldn't even have a hot smokey treat!!!

It was just Morrissey's typical Ironic humor. Who ever said Moz wasn't humorous?

haha! now you know what it feels like to have a near miss. Moz loves to torture people. He gets pleasure out of it.

I sure hope that picture is a good one because it would make a great promo or album cover. I'd buy the album for that picture alone!
Get to it Moz, we can't wait for something new!

I know this sounds like good news, but is this person a reliable source?

And this person does nothing to say who the mystery producer is. But at least it makes sense about all the band member sightings around the area.

Oh well

1. Moz and Alain knew about the thing at the Roxy, which means they or somebody they know has been looking at this website. I think. Or reading the newspapers. or something.

2. Morrissey, you frustrating man!! Please give us a new record soon. You know you can make brilliant ones when you try. We neeeeeeeeed you.

Why wouldn't labels take interest? any new Moz record is guaranteed to sell reasonably well.

NOt really Maljusted only sold 80,000 copies. A major label wouldnt even take notice. But an independent or descent sized label would.

That is frickin great news Mr. Bigglesworth (oh sorry...slightly delirious). I sit here and think...wow, a new album...that also means another tour in the U.S. :) At least I do think it's likely...but more so I pray it happens.

Oh and Mozzer, come to the Hootenanny this weekend, it's going to be a splendid day. Your next round of Coronas is on me.

Who can really blame him for not going inside the Roxy? If you knew that the place was packed with rabid Moz fans, and all you had was Alain protecting you, you wouldn't go in either.
ugh....

Oh holy dubbies: there isnt any new recording, there isnt any new label till now - @#!!!ing bloody plutocratism who doesnt fell the need in something we called MOZZING THE WORLD GO BOUND
and we, we straying fools thought and have been told here(!) Morrissey and friends are working hard somewhere in studios.... - only some written songs
- will say: no songs in autumn, no songs in winter, maybe next sommer maybe in sommer 2000- or what- you say spring 2001. yes, maybe, but maybe on alpha moon 14 in year 2134 for dub-bu-spoon records.
what a great perspective for the coming moods - for the shapes we´ll in - oh yea, I want to - Me and you and you and you -

well Pittsburgh it isn't all that exciting either. I think when Moz does put his new album out he is going to surprise us all. I think it's just going to be something we didn't quite expect.

I was just down in L.A. today and I know this guy that works down there and Boz,Moz and Alain, come to his store and I know he's not B.S.ing me because he showed me a pic of him, Moz, and Boz together. Anyway he told me all about the Roxy thing and he said Alain had told him about it and he also said Boz told him that they were working on a new album, so the rumors are true!

I should have been more happy if next Morrissey's album had to be written with a certain Johnny Marr. After listening last Electronic album, i really thought that Johnny is greater and greater, and Morrissey is littler and littler.

"Alain even said that the songs they have been working on are a lot better than the last few albums" - well in the case of the last 2 they can hardly be much worse can they? If the next album isn't substantial then it's curtains for Moz I fear, it has to be great artistically, and it would help if it were commercial too, with say the catchiness of Suedehead.

Well, I do not think “commercial” has any relationship at all with “quality”.
I mean “Vauxhall and I” was not really commercial, but it’s his best record without any doubt. And, if the man could survive to Kill Uncle, he’ll survive anything...
