Posted on Sun, May 9 1999
by David T. <david@Morrissey-solo.com>
From JPx:

Another Moz night. But a Moz night in Manchester!!!!

It's at The Star & Garter, Manchester, England. They do a few every year, but this one might be a bit full, I 'FINK'

UPDATE 5/10: date of event is May 21, not May 22.

Comments / Notes

The rumour mill suggests that British Pop Icon 'Momus' maybe attending this ageing rockabilly bash too.

Just so legions of bequiffed youths don't turn up on the wrong night, this even is actually being held on Friday the 21st, not the 22nd.
If youc an attend this event then i thoroughly recommend it. The December one in particular was spectacular.

Can we please have instructions on how to get to the pub? What part of Manchester is it in? What will be going on?

The Star and Garter is only about 3 minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly Train Station. it lies on Fairfield St, which runs accross the back of the station. Essentially, once you leave the station, walk back on yourself away from the town centre, and then youll come across Fairfield St- Turn right and the pub is about 50 yrds up the road, though you wont know its their till your right next to it.
Nothing will be going on excpet lots of frantic dancing to the Smiths and Moz. You should go - you'll love it.

Does anyone know of the plans for after? How long will it go on for? I will be coming from Nottingham on my own and I wondered if there will be any 'extra-curricular activities'

Well, If anyones interested, I'll be going up from Derby, either by bus or train, hopefully with a few others. Feel free to join us, although we are exceptionally boring. As for arterward, I quite fancy staying in a nice comfy bed in a nice comfy hotel and doing some Rough Trade hunting on the Saturday morning.

Hey,
We're coming across all the way from Leeds, so I hope it's a good night. Does anyone know what time it starts or finishes?

I've heard a rumour that Roy Keene will be there, singing a karaoke version of "A rush and a push and the European Cup is ours" !

See you all there,
Nobby

Hello everyone... I was at this particular Moz night and it was INCREDIBLE, I met some of the most wonderful people ever... for those of you who were there, I was the girl selling the fanzine 'Loved & Lost'. I'd just like to thank any of you who bought them for supporting my little Morrissey enterprise... and hello to the young man called Andy, who said hello to me, and his friend. They posted a message on here apparently. Hugs to everyone who was there. My GOD I love Manchester, in particular the wonderful Star & Garter. What a place.

Erm....hello Alison, I didn't go along because...
It was a Friday morning and I had to be in work at 6:30AM, and I was supposed to finish at 4:30. If everything went smoothly, I would only just make it on the bus, and into Manchester for 8:30. And on the way home from work I crashed my bike for the first time in years, and I was covered in mud, glass, stones and blood. I never made it in time for the bus, and I would have got my lovely coat covered in red...and you know what I'm like at The Star & Garter, I just fade into the wallpaper!
Sorry I didn't make it though...

The next Manchester Moz night will be on Friday 23rd July, again at The Star & Garter. Jo - you certainly don't have to worry about coming from Nottingham on your own... :o)
