why is it that "how soon is now" has been remade (horribly) for several big screen movies, yet an italian beer commercial gets use of this?

Hey, don't forget a few years ago that Labatts (in canada) used the song 'How Soon is Now' when launching their Labatt Ice beer. I remember thinking, "This is the coolest ad ever"....

And why not? I think 'Pretty Girls make Graves' would be ideal for a feminine deodorant commercial.

Yes. some Italian friends told me that.
I find it a bit disgusting...I hope and I believe i t was not up to Morrissey to give to go ahead.
Maybe the Warner Bros? (I think they've bought the whole Smiths catalougue, didn't they?"

I had already to cope with the first blow of having Roxy Music on TV ads, but The Smiths...

Since we're talking Marketing, I'm thinking "Some Girls are Bigger than Others" for the next Victoria's Secret campaign....

They could use "Willian, it was reallly nothing" for a commercial of Monica Lewinky's new book .

Please Please Please stop using this brilliant piece of music to promote some insignificant beer!!! Morrissey should sue for defamation of character.....they are corroding his soul.

I donīt even think that Morrissey likes Tuborg... If i remember correctly he is more fond of American light beer consisting och 57% polyester.

Let them use it however they see fit. I know what it means to me, and that can't be taken away.

Hey now, everyone I know has gotten loaded on occasion (with Labatts, Oregon Honey or brine for that matter) and pops in Smiths relics for a good chorus rendering. It was an 80's, Brat-Packish novelty. Speaking of, E! Television is airing an hour-long special about the Bratty-Packers this Sunday, 8pm (Eastern). Molly, Ally, Demi, Emilio, Judd, Michael, and Andrew dish the dirt. No Mozzy though. He'll be eating cheese slices, getting drunk and thinking about where his 1 million pounds ended up. Hee-Hee!

They could use "Thereīs a light that never goes out" for the Brazilian power plant that last week left half country in the dark...

ARGH - that's all I can say to this!! If it were known that Moz himself likes Tuborg, then perhaps one could settle with it, but... ahm... well, to me it seems just a bit out of place to use this song for a commercial.

I was very happy to hear Smith's song during Tuborg's spot. I think that great music never dies, and can be pretty good for everything.

Ah, the song for promotional spot of Monica Lewinsky's book is "Reel around the fountain".

I well thats cool that they r using the worlds greatest song ( in my opinion) for a beer comercial. I thinks thats Hella cool. I remember back '92 during the Olympic's in Barcelona The US mail service used the background music of Everyday Is Like Sunday for some stamps! ahhh heck no one remember probally!

Well, I suppose we cannot complain because at least the song is gaining exposure--however, I'm sure if it was a record company's decision, we'll soon be hearing "Still Ill" on a commercial for genital herpes medication.

Kudos to Brazilian...that was clever. And to whoever wrote "some girls are bigger than others" for Victoria's Secret, I applaud you as well!

Wow-"Please, Please, Please..." will be used on a beer commercial? How out-of-context for such a beautiful song.

How about "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" for a genital herpes medication commercial.
