LA is very big and not at all easy to get around without a car. You could take the Amtrak to San Diego and probably even to the Ventura show, but the problem is when you get there you would need a way to get to the show and where you are staying. Taxis are not that easy to come by and I have no idea how the bus would work. This ain't NY! Transportation systems suck out here. Cars are a real necessity unfortunately. nothing is conveniently located. Let me know if I can help you.

No I don't know Schrader- not sure if I spelled that right... I would check online if there is a place to look up hostel reviews just to be on the safe side. There are a lot of seedy places in Hollywood. I am a ways out, but you are always welcome to stay and use my house as a base. I will be at the Gibson show, Ventura, and Indio. Hope you can come out!

Definitely Ventura and The Gibson, but I am contemplating Vegas, SD, and Indio... I don't have much time to decide on Indio and vegas!
