The Smiths tell Cameron to listen to something else - itv.com

David Cameron revealed tonight how he has been forced to stop listening to The Smiths because his taste in music left the band feeling embarrassed.

The Prime Minister was speaking at an event to celebrate the success of the UK music industry which has achieved its highest ever share of global sales.

Mr Cameron said The Smiths asked him to stop mentioning them, adding:

"I'm a huge music fan but obviously it's been something of a music crisis year for me because Morrissey and Johnny Marr have said I'm not allowed to listen to The Smiths any more, so I've had to find some other stuff I am allowed to listen to."

Anthrax’s Scott Ian on why he absolutely hates Morrissey’s “Suedehead” - avclub.com

    Excerpt -

Scott Ian: For me, it just comes down to the most unlistenable sound quality in Morrissey’s voice. I picked that song because I don’t know much about Morrissey’s music but I can’t listen to his voice; it’s unlistenable to me. And I know that it’s one of his bigger songs, so I think most people will be familiar with it.
It’s just something about his voice that I just can’t listen to it. It’s completely unappealing to my ears; there’s no sound on this planet that is worse than that.

The A.V. Club: So it’s a musical thing and not that Morrissey, as a person, is annoying to you?

SI: No. It has nothing to do with him as a person. I don’t know the guy. He could be a wonderful human being. I just don’t like the sound of his voice. I know plenty ...

It isn't nice and you shouldn't do it - true-to-you.net

Congratulations to Prince Charles for banning foie gras from all his functions.
However, unsurprisingly, this most savage and cruel commodity continues to be the favorite "dish" of smiling mother-to-be Kate Muddleton (from whom, in fact, we expect no less.)

Foie gras production is illegal in the UK, yet the ever-so-correct Fortnum and Mason have found suppliers in France who will keep their shelves stocked - possibly with the hope that smiling Kate will wobble in and place an order for her unborn child.
Since Fortnum and Mason are now the only department store in London who are associated with the pitiless atrocity of foie gras, would you please write to them/contact them and exert pressure on them to stop selling such a savage beyond belief "product".

When we were Hand In Glove: With a very pushy guitarist and a tinny old tape recorder, how the Smiths transformed British pop culture - dailymail.co.uk
    By CRAIG MCLEAN

It was the Smith's first single and the song that kick-started the most thrilling song-writing partnership of the Eighties

    Excerpt -

‘I was at my parents’ house one Sunday evening,’ recalls Marr, ‘and my little brother had a guitar knocking about. I started to play some chords and quickly came up with this riff.

'I got very excited about it as I knew it was good. But I didn’t have anything to record it on, so my girlfriend Angie – who’s now my wife – ran around to her house and snuck her dad’s car out. I got in the car with my guitar, playing the riff over and over again so I wouldn’t forget it!’ ...

Mega-Producer Steve Lillywhite Looks Back on Storied Past; Talks U2, Morrissey, Keith Richards - The Hollywood Reporter

    Excerpt -

And Morrissey. “Morrissey is probably one of the more eccentric people I’ve ever worked with. He’s fearless in a lot of ways. Is this being filmed? I won’t tell that one. OK, I just won’t say the names. There was a very, very well known American manager. We’re in the studio out in the country in England. This manager managed probably the biggest solo artist in the world and he wanted to meet with Morrissey. He flew from Los Angeles to the studio. He walked in, Morrissey walked behind him, and Morrissey disappeared. Couldn’t find Morrissey anywhere. It got more and more embarrassing. Eventually, the manager just left. Then Morrissey came out. I asked him why he had left and ...

thestranger.com - Brief Interview by Derek Erdman

    Excerpt -

Manchester and the Pacific Northwest are both known for their constant drizzle. What type of shoes do you like to wear when it's damp?
Well, you know, I'm completely impractical. It's all about wearing the appropriate shoes that go with my trousers, I'm afraid. I'm pretty shallow that way; I always will be. I end up going through way too many pairs of suede shoes. Very impractical, but they look right onstage. Hey, I'm a professional [laughs]. I always put my job first.

I'm aware that the music for the Smiths song "A Rush and a Push and the Land Is Ours" was borrowed from a song called "Shoes," by Reparata. How were you introduced to that song?
It was inspired by that, yeah—the bulk of that tune I kind of remembered from being a kid while ...
