My bio is a journey in which I'm gradually coming to the conclusion that my entire life is just a figment of my imagination.

Les commentaire sont ne permettre pas, mon petit grenouille toxique. Comment nous pouvons (?) (oh dear!) repondre? Pour quoi? Avez vous peur? Etez vous une taquine? Il rectifier, s'il vous plait

Well, I don't agree that French is a dying language, but, maybe it's now a step nearer after that attempt to murder it. But at least I try! And speaking of French things.....only another five weeks now and I'm out of here and over to France, knowing well that Haze, at least, has volunteered to tow England out to sea and dynamite it whilst I'm gone, which was kind of decent of him, I thought. Looking forward to being back in France,

Following on from my attempt to remove any chance of appearing musically fashionable by going to see Gary Numan some time ago, the other night I went to see Space Ritual, a band made up members of the 1960's psychedelic prog-rock band Hawkwind, who aren't able to use that name for legal reasons, and who I got into for a while in my exploration of the 60's-70's phase, and it was a pretty damn brilliant gig as far as sheer muscianship goes, and they did some spectacular versions of their early classics, all enhanced by a few drags on my friend's cigarette which had been specially rolled by a garden gnome and so I had a good dance to them all. In fact, they were so good, we're going to see them again on Friday in Hebden Bridge, a little village near here where Syliva Plath is buried and Ted Hughes ancestors come from. They had a female 'interpetive dancer' on the stage with them, who came on in a variety of interesting costumes according to the songs, most of which she ended up removing at some point during the routine, leaving her dancing totally naked, which was a sight pretty hard not to consider carefully when you haven't had sex for as long as I haven't, which is quite long, enough to make me feel like I'm married. Before the gig, we got to talk to the lead singer in the bar for a while, whilst he ate a baguette. Afterwards, we went down Rusholme for a curry, an area, which contrary to how it is immortalised in Morrissey's song, is quite civilised, as areas in Manchester go, being mostly full of students. asian immigrants, (hence the choice of shit-loads of places to have a curry) and generally middle class apartment dwellers, all making ruffians from Rusholme few and far between, and your more likely to find them in the neigbhouring area of Longsight or Moss Side where there was 18 shootings in the last year alone, which is a lot by English standards, especially as our police don't carry guns so are kind of at a disavantage when it comes to shooting back. Ah take me back to the England I knew as a child when it was front page news if somebody had a pushbike stolen. What went wrong? I don't know, but I'm sure evil Maggie, Ronnie Raygun and his globally repercusive monetarist policies, Quentin's wacky movies, and Puff Daddy, all have something to do with it somewhere along the line. But I digress. I had a Vegetarian Rogan Josh, with pilau rice, naan bread, and some Indian beer.

Also, last night, whilst returning from a visit to my new psychotherapist, I finally went and had a glass of San Fransico Anchor Steam beer, even though it was around £5.00 a pint. Bit sharp on the back of the tongue, turning the tastebuds there into two snakes, whatever that means, but not bad, not bland, and certainly different. A weird kind of Morrissey-solo world of coincidence occurred, whilst drinking that beer, in that, it was Gabriella and J Razor from here who told me about it, and then as soon as I took my first sip, I recognised the voice on the music suddenly being played as the lead singer of the Tindersticks, which, amazingly, is a band Havfine from here told me about similarly! Well, it seemed pretty spookily impressive to me at the time! And it gave me an excuse to try and strike up a conversation with the barmaid by asking her if the CD she was playing was the Tindersticks, but the 'striking up' was about as far as it got, in that then my mind just went totally blank and I couldn't think what to say after that, or rather, more sort of didn't make the effort, because I suddenly thought I was being ridiculous, and she might tell me to fuck off or something, so I ate my pizza instead.

Oh yeh, one more thing....

Space Ritual is one of my all-time favorite albums. I suspect that what you saw is Nik Turner's latest odyssey, performed with an assemblage of former Hawkwind members, yes? I would have loved to see the gig you went to, though I suspect I would have been disappointed since my favorite incarnation of Hawkwind featured Dave Brock on vocals (of course!!), Lemmy on bass, Bob Calvert's demented poetry recitations (including Sonic Attack, which you've referenced in your subject heading--but did you know that Sonic Attack was actually written by the incredible Michael Moorcock?), and a very large (6' tall!), pendulously breasted Stacia who often graced the stage dancing in little more than body paint! To have seen this incarnation of the band would have been the ultimate for me, beating out blowing a pre-Dark Side of the Moon David Gilmour or bedding down a Nursery Cryme era Peter Gabriel by a wide margin. I was born at the wrong time!
Have you actually heard the original Space Ritual? It can't be beat, especially "Lord of Light" and "You Shouldn't Do That." And the way that "Sonic Attack" leads into "Time We Left This World Today" is so perfect!
