An article in the Manchester Evening News announces that the Salford Lads Club failed to get funding for renovation and should be demolished and rebuilt. Perhaps all the bricks removed as souvenirs by Smiths fans have weakened the structure. Read about it at:

Battle to save legendary building

Excerpt:
Salford Lads Club -- a 97-year-old institution on the Ordsall Estate -- earned legendary status when 1980s cult band The Smiths used it for a photo shoot.

As crazy as this may sound, Belle and Sebastian not only played "The Boy With A Thorn In His Side" at their Saturday night concert (9/8/01 @ The Warfield, San Francisco), but I was fortunate enough to be picked out of the crowd to join the band on stage and help Stuart Murdoch with the words and singing. It was a definite highlight of my life, so if there's anyone out there who attended the show and made (or know of) a bootleg, i would give really love to get a copy! thanks!

There is an article by David Glaser on Morrissey-solo in issue 304 of French rock weekly 'Les Inrockuptibles' (11 September). It is titled 'Momo pas solo' ('Momo non solo') and it shortly describes the aim and content of the site and also gives some details about the activities of its founder (sometimes quoted).

Here are some quotes (rough translation):

"It is one of the most active sites dedicated to an artist who hasn't released any record for more than 4 years."

"I know him personaly even though I don't feel comfortable in his presence because I am quite reserved... He sometimes sent me his own statements... but I don't pretend to be his spokesperson: this is not an official site".

D. Glaser seems to be very impressed by the abundance of the Smiths/Morrissey archives avaible on or via Morrissey-solo, and by the enthusiasm and dedication of the fans and people visiting the site (as if we didn't know).

The article is illustrated by a small close shot portrait of Morrissey from the 1991 session by R. Monfourny.
