I was the one that originally submitted this rumor. The same friend (again, from deep within the Coachella circle) has updated me stating that he now has received a confirmation from a legitimate source that the offer was made (to headline Sunday for $8mil) AND that the holdup of the Smiths accepting at this point is, of course, our man Morrissey. This is the reason for Goldenvoice's continued holding pattern.

Sounds like it is in his hands now - to forgive and forget, to negotiate a reunion sans certain members, or to decline yet again. No idea if this is a single event offer, a tour, or something else. Shouldn't be long now (Tuesday, I believe) before we all know the truth or fiction of this...

I have been offered a book deal, a serious one. I'd get into it and that would mean less time on songs . It will happen though.

It will be an autobiography of course, that or about my collection of fascinating public bus tickets from the '80's. That would be cool.

50 Greatest Guitar Riffs in Rock 'n' Roll - Spinner

In the mid-1980s, most of the jaw-dropping guitar acrobatics were being performed by dudes in metal bands, but a pale Mancunian lad called Johnny Marr was doing things with "jangle pop" that still blow minds today. Just listening to the Smiths' 'This Charming Man' -- which sounds like the fretwork of at least two people -- makes our fingers tired.

Gino Sanchez (DJ FeLL) writes:

During their LIVE on radio performance.. local San Antonio, Texas based band.. The MusikBox performed a minimal version of the classic Smiths Song: Death of a Disco Dancer! You can listen to the entire radio broadcast here:

The MusikBox Live on The Wave KSYM 90.1 11-8-11 by djfell

They covered the song at the end of their set and dedicated it to KSYM 90.1's DJ & Underwriting Director .. Charlie Castleman.. a devout Morrissey fan himself.

As you can tell.. with GIRL IN A COMA also hailing from San Antonio, Texas.. and now The MusikBox covering this Smiths tune.. SAN ANTONIO, Texas has always had Huge Morrissey / Smiths fan base.. maybe it is time for Morrissey to come back to Good Ol' San Antone.... Just sayin'

Thanks for Listening!

My name is Emmet O'Brien
I have begun a Morrissey blog where I plan to discuss every single song of his solo career.

While the introductory post was made in April 09 I got sidetracked with other work but I'm happy to say I can now dedicate myself to the project wholeheartedly. Any support this site could provide would be greatly appreciated and
I would very much enjoy some feedback.

Here's the blog:
