Excerpt:
It would be uncharacteristically unsentimental of me not to pass comment on the fact that The Smiths’ second album, Meat Is Murder, was released a quarter of a century ago this week...

Morrissey is up there with Bob Dylan.Bono: I laugh out loud listening to Morrissey albums. Only Bob Dylan and Morrissey make me laugh. Sometimes, I’ll be listening to the music and doing some press-ups and I’ll fall over.

NME - "What was it like going on tour with Morrissey? He's said some pretty nice things about you in the press..."
Liam Fray - "I remember the first time he came to watch us, at the Camden Barfly. I was outside with Conan (Moores, guitar) and Michael (Campbell, drums) while they were having a cigarette when this black cab pulled up and I just saw this silhouette of a quiff inside. Then he got out and I was like, 'Fucking hell! It's Morrissey!' After the gig he came down and had a beer with us. He's a fucking top person. He's warm, really funny...I mean, he's quite a shy geezer, but he's also very engaging. It's crazy, sitting down and having a beer with one of the greats, if not The Great. But we're all just people aren't we? None of us are superhuman. Not all of us, anyway..."

Benicio Del Toro on life as The Wolfman - Times Online
interview by Kevin Maher
Excerpt:
Within seconds he’s up on his feet, a bracing vision of Puerto Rican masculinity, in a charcoal black suit and crisp white shirt and with his hooded hazel eyes on full beam. “Morrissey!” he says, excitedly, spotting the letters “orrisse” poking out from an old T-shirt beneath my jacket, before enthusing about the singer’s back catalogue and launching into a rendition of Everyday is Like Sunday. And then — suddenly — he’s down. “J. D. Salinger is dead!” he announces, sinking into the couch, lighting up the first of many Dunhills.
