Quentin S. Crisp - supernatural fiction Morrissey reference
posted by davidt on Monday April 27 2009, @01:00AM

boredhousewife writes:
I wanted to find out the origins of the phrase 'Troubled Joe' (Google search).

Doing so, I noticed the writer 'Quentin S. Crisp'(!) has claimed to be writing a story with that title (blog entry from 2006). inspired by A Rush and a Push and the Land is Ours.

Further Googling uncovered this:

ALL GOD'S ANGELS, BEWARE!
Quentin S. Crisp
Cover art: Not yet finalised
Publication Date: July 2009

In “Troubled Joe”, a ghost tethered to this world by chains of resentment searches for someone to hear his story.

It seems like the story is going to see print, in a collection with a title that seems to be a reference from another Manchester musical legend.

"Fortunate Teens Party With Morrissey, 1994" - painting by Derek Erdman
posted by davidt on Monday April 27 2009, @01:00AM

twitter.com/torrmoz writes:
Derek Erdman made this painting titled "Fortunate Teens Party With Morrissey, 1994."

Below is Erdman's fictional-story associated with the painting.

There is a seldom told story that Morrissey's tour bus broke down in small town Ohio in the autumn of 1994. A full day was necessary for the repairs to be completed and Morrissey and his band delighted local teenaged fans by stopping by a house party to drink beer and smoke marijuana. "It was the time of my life," remarks Tamara Marshall, who was hosting the party. "My parents were out of town and I was told not to have a party, but once Morrissey showed up I knew I wasn't going to be a secret for long." When asked what she remembered most about Morrissey's visit, Tamara answered, "He didn't like Rolling Rock beer".

Down Kill Up Poll
How do you feel about Morrissey dropping the F-bomb during his recent concert in Hamburg, Germany? (suggested by Ken Stavitzke)
I support Morrissey's response
Morrissey could have replied differently
I am undecided
I don't care
The audience provocateur should be examined, not Morrissey's reply
