The Rumored And The Confirmed For Coachella 2009 - The Tripwire

Excerpt:

We’re not really sure why rumor news is exciting to people since it’s totally unsubstantiated, but we’re not one to pass up on the opportunity to report on things that might happen. So forget rumors, we will be the first to confirm that Blur, Faith No More (reunited) and Morrissey are playing the 2009 installment of Southern California’s biggest music festival. Just don’t credit us, credit Consequence Of Sound.

New Stephen Street website
posted by davidt on Friday January 23 2009, @11:00AM

Stuart King writes:
Hi i just read on the excellent Lloyd Cole web site that Stephen Street has a new web site.

Here is what Lloyd wrote:

My friend Stephen Street, the producer (Morrissey, Blur, Love Story, the Negatives) has a new website. Our mutual friend Andy Strickland who has helped me more often than I can remember with this type of thing has written the promotional copy - here it is

Producer Stephen Street launches interactive website

www.Stephenstreet.net launches with Viva Hate exclusive and exclusive Blur studio footage.

Award-winning producer, Stephen Street, known for his ground breaking studio work with the Smiths, Morrissey, Blur, the Cranberries, Kaiser Chiefs and Pete Doherty among a host of other artists, has launched his own interactive website.

www.Stephenstreet.net features exclusive photos from Street’s own archives and never before seen footage of Blur in the studio during the band’s Parklife sessions.

Morrissey fans get the chance to see the original Viva Hate songbook, complete with scribbled chords and production notes. Street co-wrote the album with the former Smiths singer. There’s even a hand-written letter from Morrissey in which the singer plots his solo career with Street – fascinating stuff.

An audio record deck also provides some classic, and less known, Street produced moments from 25 years as one of Britain’s most successful record producers.

NME- "45 Reasons 2009 Will Rock"
posted by davidt on Friday January 23 2009, @11:00AM

thetexasbloke writes:
On NME.com there is a list of "45 Reasons 2009 Will Rock". #19 is about Morrissey and is as follows:

"Morrissey was forced to delay the release of his new album 'Years Of Refusal' from 2008 until early 2009 (February 16 to be exact) after record label problems, but it will be with us soon. The record is raw and ragged, having been mostly recorded live. The star will be coming to the UK in May for live dates, including a show in Manchester on his 50th birthday, May 22."

Ticketmaster presale glitches
posted by davidt on Friday January 23 2009, @11:00AM

An anonymous person writes:
I just endured the presale ordeal on Ticketmaster for the MPLS show. What a joke. Several attempts yielded "no tix available" message. Then 2 tix on the floor, Row S came up. I passed...several more "no tix", then Loge R, Row B came up. I passed...several more "no tix", and then I found two tix on the floor I could live with (marginally better than Row S). And THEN, I tried several more times just to see where the wheel of misery stopped, and I couldn't get a single ticket to pop up.

BTW...I am at work on a very high-speed system and have never had a problem before.

Anyone else having this much fun?

Morrissey's "Bio" on Lost Highway Records

julieboboolie sends the link (via Morrissey reddit):

Morrissey bio - Lost Highway

YEARS OF REFUSAL

In a room, you are sat with Morrissey, and someone else, who might be there to make the conversation go with a little more of a swing than it might if it was just Morrissey and you. Is this person his one and only friend ? You cannot help but think things such as this when in the company of the playful reclusive Morrissey, who has, with relish and exasperation, let many rumour swirl around his life and career, or watched helplessly as people pile on scandal, accusation and outrage, to the extent that all that we really know of him we have to make up based on his songs, which give away far too much information to be reliably confessional, or his extravagantly plotted public reputation, which makes him out to be more of a sacred monster - possibly with some kind of anatomical grotesquerie - than, to be honest, he really is...

Down Kill Up Poll
How do you feel about Morrissey dropping the F-bomb during his recent concert in Hamburg, Germany? (suggested by Ken Stavitzke)
I support Morrissey's response
Morrissey could have replied differently
I am undecided
I don't care
The audience provocateur should be examined, not Morrissey's reply
