The Smiths NOT reforming - Johnny Marr; Popbitch rumor - Smiths to reform in 2010?
posted by davidt on Monday December 15 2008, @11:00AM

Sheridan Whiteside writes:
Johnny Marr statement to NME.com

Johnny Marr: 'The Smiths are not reforming'

Johnny Marr has declared there is no foundations to recent stories that his old band The Smiths are to reform.

Marr issued a statement to NME.COM saying that rumours floating around that the band were reuniting were "untrue".

He declared: "The stories circulating about a Smiths reunion are, as usual, untrue."

Marr added he was committed to his current band The Cribs.

"I'm currently very excited about writing and recording with The Cribs for a new album to be released next summer and we're playing shows in February, so going back in time isn't in my plans," he said.

And the rest of the band will no doubt be getting bugger all.

Nothing's changed there then.

Tim Roth's new show "Lie To Me" uses the music from "Glamorous Glue" and includes Moz singing a line in its preview commercial.
This is the second time Fox has used a Morrissey/Smiths track this season, first with their cover of "Everyday Is Like Sunday" for the NFL.

Houston, TX, Durham, NC tour dates forthcoming?
posted by davidt on Sunday December 14 2008, @11:00AM

Abrahan sends the link to his post in the forums:

houston, texas - venue - jones hall
two local sources of mine confirmed today that morrissey would be performing at jones hall in houston.
it would be part of a music concert series that houston society for the performing arts is going to to be having.

looking at the venue's schedule and the gap in the tour booked so far, i predict it'll be in march.

right around sxsw.

[hoax] Maladjusted 2009 remaster details
posted by davidt on Saturday December 13 2008, @07:00PM

Update: 12/14 15:28 GMT:

This is a likely hoax. I just checked the IP address and it matches one used by "Viva Hate, OBGYN" who has trolled in the past (screenshot). The same account in the comments has boldly claims this is a hoax.

The site relies on user submissions and with the open comment system hoaxes are usually quickly found out. Sorry this user has chosen to waste everyone's time.

Down Kill Up Poll
How do you feel about Morrissey dropping the F-bomb during his recent concert in Hamburg, Germany? (suggested by Ken Stavitzke)
I support Morrissey's response
Morrissey could have replied differently
I am undecided
I don't care
The audience provocateur should be examined, not Morrissey's reply
