Years Of Refusal: New album release date and other information - true-to-you.net

9 August 2008

At the wish of Universal Music, Years of refusal has been put back to a February 2nd release. There is also, at this stage, still no US label for the album since Morrissey withdrew from Decca US after their poor promotion for the Greatest hits release. There are no further live dates planned for the remainder of 2008.
It is understood that Warner Music in London are releasing a Smiths Greatest Hits album in the final quarter of 2008. This release is without Morrissey's approval or involvement.

Marc Almond autobiography "Tainted Life" mentions Morrissey meeting

Marc Almond's tense "hook up" with Moz

My husband is reading Marc Almond's autobiography, Tainted Life. Earlier today he brought the book to me and told me to read page 424.

You've probably seen this before, but in case you haven't:

I was dragged out to meet Morrissey for dinner once. A mutual friend of ours -- Jill Smith, a journalist with the now defunct Record Mirror --- wanted us to 'hook up' because she mistakenly thought we would have so much in common, what with our respective styles and lyrics. Early dinner in a London restaurant was arranged. I was my usual nervous self, but determined to see it through, and Jill was in her element, accompanied by her two favourite singers. So there we all sat, Morrissey across from me, and both of us guarded and reluctant to open up or chat. Morrissey was concerned with being Morrissey as much as I was concerned with being Marc Almond. The small talk remained so polite and charming that it was all but nonexistent, and there were long, long pauses, fake laughter, much lingering over the menu, much filling time. Jill proceeded to get so drunk that she ended up crying in the toilet, and Morrissey and I had to help her out. Sniveling and weeping, she was overcome with the experience of having dinner with the both of us. We loaded her into a taxi. Poor Jill! Morrissey and I at last managed to have a good laugh as she was driven away.

we are apparently playing after US psychedelic rockers The Electric Prunes - I had too much to dream last night . I just got into London from Portugal, I have been recording and writing a lot there, we also took delivery of a donkey yesterday, he's come for 2 weeks holiday with us! Cheers

The Dears reveal new album details - NME.com

Montreal-based The Dears will release 'Missiles', the follow-up to 2006's 'Gang Of Losers', on October 20 in the UK and Australia, and a day later in the US and Canada. Writing about the new album on her blog, keyboardist and co-vocalist Natalia Yanchak said she thinks the album shares something in common with Morrissey's new album. She wrote:

"In a recent interview on XFM, Morrissey spoke of his new album, saying: 'Journalists won’t like it but real people will.' And you know I feel the same way -- not about his album but about The Dears’ album.

Billboard: "New Morrissey Album Pushed To Early 2009"

New Morrissey Album Pushed To Early 2009 - Billboard.com

August 05, 2008 , 2:50 PM ET
Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

Originally due in September, Morrissey's next album, "Years of Refusal," has been postponed until early 2009, according to the artist's publicist. No additional information was given about the date change.

The 12-track "Refusal" was produced by Jerry Finn, who helmed Morrissey's 2004 album "You are the Quarry." Last month, Finn suffered a severe brain hemorrhage and remains hospitalized in Los Angeles.

"Years of Refusal" will be Morrissey's first studio album since signing with Polydor last year. It's the follow-up to 2006's "Ringleader of the Tormentors," which has sold 98,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Plans are still in the works for Sony BMG to reissue Morrissey's 1995 album "Southpaw Grammar" with remastered audio, three previously unreleased tracks and new artwork, but no date has been set.

Ringleader having sold only 98k makes it Moz's 3rd least selling studio album ever (reference):

March 05 2008

The best selling Morrissey album from 1992 onwards are:

Your Arsenal: 366,047
Bona Drag: 360,977

I support Morrissey's response
Morrissey could have replied differently
I am undecided
I don't care
