posted by davidt on Friday July 18 2008, @09:00AM

I have confirmation from a reliable source that Jerry Finn is in serious condition. Jerry is the producer of You Are The Quarry and the forthcoming Years Of Refusal. Posted originally in the forums thread "Jerry Finn seriously ill?"

Say Prayers for Jerry Finn

Jerry Finn is one of the good guys
He is one of my friends and a good friend to many of us
For those who don't know of Jerry
he mixed some Green Day hits, produced Blink 182 and Rancid and a bunch of good punk and most of all
he is one of the good guys
this week he suffered a massive brain hemorrhage

here is the email I received from our pal Mike Fasano
even tho I have known about this for 2 days
I waited until now to make it public
it is just crazy .... Jerry is just 38 years old ....
so, think good positive thoughts and prayers and lets hope Jerry pulls through

Subject: Jerry Finn update!

hey everybody!

sorry for the mass email update but this is a way to let everyone know how our friend Jerry is doing and will be a way to update his progress!

yes i said progress as you all know Jerry suffered a severe brain hemorrhage

this past thursday and was taken to Kaiser and has been since moved to Cedars Sinai.

Jerry is not in a coma but is unconscious and hooked up to life support. He is being cared for by dr. black. He is the best in his field just as jerry is at producing records! there is brain activity and he appears to be responding to touch! yesterday he opened his eyes and looked a me for 10 seconds! so with that being said they are running tests and monitoring and keeping him in stable condition. as it stands no news is good news and i will do my best to keep everybody up to date on his condition. despite what has happened to jerry he is fighting to survive this. i will pass info on to jenn and his sister karin and the family! we all thank you for your thoughts and prayers. the family requests that there be no visitors at this time. you can't send flowers but you can send cards so that they can be read to him! please respect the family's wishes so we can get jerry through this long road to recovery. mike

UPDATE ....

Subject: Jerry Finn and stuff

hey everyone,
just a quick note to let you know how jerry is doing as of late. dr. black is doing his thing running tests and kicking ass. despite jerry running a bit of a fever and having a bit of a cold which is all par for the course! he is hooked up to what is the equivalent all the latest versions of pro tools in here which you all know jerry isn't really a fan of the pro tools but these amazing machines with all the bells and whistles beeps and buzzers monitoring everything on jerry. i am sure he is wondering "where is the "TiVo" and the 7.1 digital sound flat screen that should be hooked into all of this set up some how!!!!!!!"

dr. black let us know that jerry is responding to some of the tests like asking jerry to look down to various questions like "is your name mark?" nothing from jerry "is your name jerry?" jerry looked down!!!!!!!!!! "are you at home?" nothing from jerry. "are you in the hospital?" jerry looked down again!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but he also let us know that it can be a really long time before he does much more of anything maybe even weeks while the blood from the hemorrhage is absorbed into the brain a we can see more clearly the extent of the damage. we were also informed that the brain in some cases can repair itself but it just takes a really long time unlike a nerve or a broken bone. the dr also said that jerrys age is on our side! i know all of this info i am relaying to you is simple and i am a simple guy and this is just how i understand it. so we have a really long road ahead of us there won't be much to report all of the time it will be much of the same for weeks but it is really amazing to see him with his eyes open here and there thought out the day even if it is only for a few minutes. it gives us hope and thats all we have and all we can go on. the family and i thank everyone for amazing support through out this! also andy, mark and mio at jerry's management were super instrumental in getting jerry out of kaiser on friday and into cedars by the help of mio's friend Forest and Keisha Whitaker who got jerry a bed here a this amazing hospital.

Israel concert changes venue, Siouxsie cancels; demands list
posted by davidt on Thursday July 17 2008, @09:00AM

davdavon writes:
According to Israeli news site YNet (Hebrew), Morrissey's concert moved from Park ha'Yarkon to Ganey ha'Ta'arucha (a smaller, and IMO much better venue) due to unsatisfactory ticket sales. Also, Siouxsie Sioux's performance was canceled "due to bureaucratic reasons". She will be replaced by Israeli singer Asaf Avidan.

YNet also published Morrissey's demands list from the concert production (Hebrew). My translation.

Full song playback through Rhapsody, new Playlists forum on Morrissey-solo
posted by davidt on Thursday July 17 2008, @09:00AM

Embedding the cutting-edge version of the Yahoo! Media Player on the site, simple and legal cross-browser, cross-platform embedding of full tracks in the Rhapsody catalog is now available on the site. The model is 25 free plays per month for non-subscribers, subscribers get unlimited plays. Search on their site if you want to post a link to a song for added context.

"You Say You Don't Love Me" - Buzzcocks (2:31)

The Morrissey-solo Playlists forum has been added to feature playlists. I started it out by posting several Morrissey-related ones, but any other playlists are welcome.

Learning that the playback was limited to US / Canada due to licensing restrictions made this feature less exciting. Hopefully one day labels will figure the legal issues out out as the technology is there.

"I Want the One I Can't Have (Live at The Royal Albert Hall)" - Morrissey (4:41)

Salford Lads Club reference in "Grand Theft Auto 4"? Well, Sort Of
posted by davidt on Thursday July 17 2008, @09:00AM

MrTheEdge writes:
Recently while taking a walk trough the mean streets of Liberty City I (a long time Morrissey and Smiths fan) suddenly discovered a landmark that kind of reminded me of a certain famous stoop of sorts. As soon as I saw this location in GTA 4 I was reminded of The Salford Lads Club. But what made this find even more interesting was that next to the door way was a business sign with the word "smith" printed on it. Interesting and awesome. Who knows, maybe the creators of the infamous video game series aren't fans of the mozzer and this is just a strange coincidence but either way, this was a very cool experience for me. Down Kill Up Poll
How do you feel about Morrissey dropping the F-bomb during his recent concert in Hamburg, Germany? (suggested by Ken Stavitzke)
I support Morrissey's response
Morrissey could have replied differently
I am undecided
I don't care
The audience provocateur should be examined, not Morrissey's reply
