Israel concert changes venue, Siouxsie cancels; demands list
posted by davidt on Thursday July 17 2008, @09:00AM

davdavon writes:
According to Israeli news site YNet (Hebrew), Morrissey's concert moved from Park ha'Yarkon to Ganey ha'Ta'arucha (a smaller, and IMO much better venue) due to unsatisfactory ticket sales. Also, Siouxsie Sioux's performance was canceled "due to bureaucratic reasons". She will be replaced by Israeli singer Asaf Avidan.

YNet also published Morrissey's demands list from the concert production (Hebrew). My translation.

Full song playback through Rhapsody, new Playlists forum on Morrissey-solo
posted by davidt on Thursday July 17 2008, @09:00AM

Embedding the cutting-edge version of the Yahoo! Media Player on the site, simple and legal cross-browser, cross-platform embedding of full tracks in the Rhapsody catalog is now available on the site. The model is 25 free plays per month for non-subscribers, subscribers get unlimited plays. Search on their site if you want to post a link to a song for added context.

"You Say You Don't Love Me" - Buzzcocks (2:31)

The Morrissey-solo Playlists forum has been added to feature playlists. I started it out by posting several Morrissey-related ones, but any other playlists are welcome.

Learning that the playback was limited to US / Canada due to licensing restrictions made this feature less exciting. Hopefully one day labels will figure the legal issues out out as the technology is there.

"I Want the One I Can't Have (Live at The Royal Albert Hall)" - Morrissey (4:41)

Salford Lads Club reference in "Grand Theft Auto 4"? Well, Sort Of
posted by davidt on Thursday July 17 2008, @09:00AM

MrTheEdge writes:
Recently while taking a walk trough the mean streets of Liberty City I (a long time Morrissey and Smiths fan) suddenly discovered a landmark that kind of reminded me of a certain famous stoop of sorts. As soon as I saw this location in GTA 4 I was reminded of The Salford Lads Club. But what made this find even more interesting was that next to the door way was a business sign with the word "smith" printed on it. Interesting and awesome. Who knows, maybe the creators of the infamous video game series aren't fans of the mozzer and this is just a strange coincidence but either way, this was a very cool experience for me. Morrissey called for a "meat ban" backstage at Wireless Festival, but the Rascals ruined it...

Morrissey Called For 'Meat Ban' At Wireless Festival - Gigwise
But the Rascals ruined it...

Morrissey is reported to have called for a ban on all meat in the backstage area at last weekend's Wireless Festival in London.

The singer, who headlined the second day of the festival, is also said to have displayed 'Meat is Murder' posters in the VIP area.

But Morrissey's efforts to stop the consumption of meat failed when The Rascals chose to deface one of his posters, according to teletext.

“The Rascals lived up to their name and defaced the poster nearest Moz's enclosure so it read, 'Meat is boss', and drew a load of burgers on it,” a source said.

As previously reported on Gigwise, Morrissey also spoke out against meat eaters during his performance, saying he could smell the scent of burgers drifting across the stage.

How do you feel about Morrissey dropping the F-bomb during his recent concert in Hamburg, Germany? (suggested by Ken Stavitzke)
I support Morrissey's response
Morrissey could have replied differently
I am undecided
I don't care
