‘ALL YOU NEED IS ME’ RELEASED 2ND JUNE - itsmorrisseyworld.com 22/05/08
Morrissey’s second single of the year ‘All You Need Is Me’ will now be released on 2nd June for one week only.
Originally slated for release on 19th May, the single has been one of the most popular new songs at recent shows. The single boasts the production mastery of Jerry Finn, the man behind 2004’s widely acclaimed long player You Are The Quarry. Finn is also putting the finishing touches to Morrissey's new studio album which is due for an Autumn 2008 release.
‘All You Need Is Me’ comes with some truly unique B-sides in the following formats...
CD single Track 1: ‘All You Need Is Me’ Track 2: ‘Children In Pieces’ (Recorded in LA with Oscar and BAFTA winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla, responsible for Brokeback Mountain, Babel and The Motorcycle Diaries. Produced by Jerry Finn, the man behind 2004’s You Are The Quarry.)
7’ #1 Side A: All You Need Is Me’ Side B: ‘My Dearest Love’ (Recorded in LA with Oscar and BAFTA winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla, responsible for Brokeback Mountain, Babel and The Motorcycle Diaries. Produced by Jerry Finn, the man behind 2004’s You Are The Quarry.)
7’ #2 Side A: ‘All You Need Is Me’ Side B: ‘Drive-in Saturday’ (Written by David Bowie this version was recorded live at the Orpheum Theater, Omaha, Nebraska, 11th May 2007)
Don’t forget ‘All You Need Is Me’ is released for one week only from 2nd June, so you’ll need to get in there pretty sharpish to bag yourself a copy.

Kitty3780 writes:This was posted yesterday on the Morrissey myspace page, so some of you may already have seen it but if not, here it is. The post suggests Morrissey was responsible for selecting who would be playing... not really convinced on this one, but good to see the record company being so proactive with the myspace page and giving us more ways to be involved! It'd be great if one of us lot won - we must have the best Moz stories, surely?

And Morrissey?
I think he’s a brilliant lyricist. His evolution as a songwriter is amazing – he’s charted all the various stages of his life and career in an honest and thought-provoking way.
He could’ve made a career out of eulogising British working class youth but he was the first to realise that his life was not static – his songs are an amazing map of his own bizarre life-arc.

50 best British songwriters - The Telegraph
This Thursday the Ivor Novello awards will honour the greatest home-grown songwriters of the year. But who are the greatest of all time? Altogether now… compiled by Chris Harvey
3 Morrissey/Johnny Marr
The songwriting partnership behind the Smiths was responsible for some of the strangest and most enchanted pop music ever. Tales of thwarted sexual longing wrapped in enigmatic literary references are carried on reverberating waves of sound. That indefinable something takes in kitchen-sink romanticism and a camp disregard for the everyday ('There's more to life than books, you know,/ But not much more'), but it always points back to true north, as in the classic How Soon is Now? - 'I am human and I need to be loved/ Just like everybody else does.'
Classic lyric: 'Fame, fame, fatal fame/ It can play hideous tricks on the brain.' (Frankly, Mr Shankly, 1986)
