Some of you might remember me. The Faithfull hardcore from the Strasbourg gig in January!
I do have hot news regarding the new record of Marianne Faithfull to be released in late September:

Marianne’s new album ’EASY COME, EASY GO’
Marianne's new album EASY COME, EASY GO will be released at the end of September 2008. Recorded over a two week period at the end of 2007 at the historic Sear Sound studios in New York.
All the songs have been chosen by Marianne and Hal. The album includes interpretations of songs from such varied artists as Billie Holiday's 'Solitude', Merle Haggard's 'Sing me back home', Bessie Smith's 'Easy Come Easy Go Blues' (the title track), Morrissey 'Dear God Please Help Me' and Dolly Parton "Down from Dover.
Using a brass band and string section, the band also reunites Marianne with Marc Ribot, and Barry Reynolds. Both Marianne and Hal feel the album is one of their best to date. The album will also come out as a special edition; keep checking in for details.
I wonder how this cover will be like - so you are likely to love OR hate Marianne for this... ;-)))

Morrissey invited Sparks to join his Meltdown festival lineup in 2004. Now the Maels have belatedly repaid the compliment, in a backhanded way, with a song called Lighten Up, Morrissey on their shiny and sardonic new album, Exotic Creatures of the Deep. Despite its arch title, the song is really a plea for a potential girlfriend to cool her obsession with pop’s most famous celibate vegetarian.
“We gave it to Morrissey about two weeks ago and he’s in love with it,” says Russell. “We wanted him to hear it before it got out there.”
“It could have gone either way!” laughs Ron. “There is some humour in telling Morrissey to lighten up, but I would hate it if he ever did, because then he wouldn’t be Morrissey. He would just be . . . one of us.”
Another standout track on the album is a sleazy, sarcastic electro-glam stomp called I Can’t Believe that You Would Fall for All the Crap in This Song. A very Sparks confection, it is a seductive pop tune that sneers at seductive pop tunes.
“It’s directed at a person who would fall for a generic saccharine expression of love in a song,” Ron says. “Too much pop music is so lyrically generic. Getting back to Morrissey, I don’t hear too many threats to his lyrical supremacy. He is definitely Attila the Hun in that regard.”

He says 'yes', and all this time I can't believe I'm talking to Morrissey face-to-face. In fact, I can hardly remember the moment, but at least I have a picture of it, after stumbling with the camera for so long and talking about how I met him in Houston in 1991 while breaking the silence. Then with the sun glazing over preventing from seeing screen of the camera's eye (I know, lame), the shot taken, VOILA! The most perfect picture in the world with Morrissey in a Morrissey-esque pose while trying to remember Houston in 1991 at the Record Rack.

I thought I could hear what might be a Marr influence (instrumentally) as well, albeit unusual. Maybe that's not newsworthy, but I thought I'd mention it. Here's the link. |

During a segment on last night's NBC sitcom (May 1), "My Name is Earl", Alyssa Milano's character was in a coma. In this segment, they showed different clips of her being taken care during her comatose state by a male friend. Of course, GIAC was played during the segment.
Pretty cool to see it used in a mainstream American sitcom that a few million tune into.
