Morrissey buys rare James Dean watch
posted by davidt on Tuesday April 08 2008, @10:00AM

An anonymous person writes:
Saturday at an auction at the Heritage auction house in Dallas Texas, Morrissey bid on and won a rare James Dean watch, the winning bid was $40,000 plus. He did this thru a phone bid, which was set up thru Heritage. The watch reported as one of James Deans's favorites, and one he wore during the filming of "East of Eden", and much of his early stage work. this is a rare time piece and a wonderful score for the Mozzer.

"All You Need Is Me"- CD single "non-review"
posted by davidt on Tuesday April 08 2008, @10:00AM

Stan Moss writes:
To coincide with the release of "All You Need Is Me", Birmingham website Hagley Road to Ladywood calls for "an all round press boycott of any of Morrissey's future releases" in the wake of The Word/NME libel case.

Here's a snippet: "Our argument, in fact, is that Morrissey's recent legal exploit against The Word magazine and the NME will make it impossible from now on to offer a balanced and objective review of his artistic output without fear of receiving a judicial writ issued through the letter box". And, the article continues, "[...]after some serious wrangling, Hagley Road to Ladywood is calling for an all-round press boycott of any of Morrissey's future releases".

Interesting Morrissey caricature too, sporting a 'No Win No Fee poster' in the background.

Artwork for new book was also used by Morrissey

Misnomers writes:
Cannongate is doing a huge series of Myths that are being retold by contemporary authors. The series is excellent and everyone should read it, but aside from that I just noticed that the new paperback reprint of "Girl Meets Boy" by Ali Smith is using the same photo for it's cover as the photo that is the cover for the Moz & Siouxsie "Interlude" single!

Morrissey attends Russell Brand's Hollywood show
posted by davidt on Sunday April 06 2008, @09:00AM

An anonymous person writes:
Mell and Crystal Geezer just called me and told me that they were at Russell Brand's show at The Paul Gleason Theater in Hollywood tonight (Apr. 5). They say that Morrissey was in the front row. He seemed to enjoy the show very much and even gave Russell a standing ovation when it was over.

Before the show Mell approached Morrissey and said, "Morrissey, will you please sign your Greatest Hits CD for me? I have it in my purse." Morrissey smiled and looked kind of surprised as he responded with, "And so do I."

Sadly he was whisked away by someone from the theater before he could sign the CD.

Sparks discuss new song "Lighten Up, Morrissey" On Janice Long show
posted by davidt on Sunday April 06 2008, @09:00AM

DianaDors writes:
Sparks discuss their admiration for Morrissey and premiere a track entitled "Lighten Up, Morrissey" from their forthcoming album "Exotic Creatures Of The Deep". They explain that the song is about a guy who finds that girls won't date him because he's not enough like Morrissey. Very witty and respectful lyrics. Listen to the interview and song here:

Whilst doing a double shift at work and at around 2am this morning!I happened to notice that janice long (BBC Radio 2) mentioned the new Sparks track "Lighten up Morrissey" and proceeded to interview both members of Sparks before playing the new song (which wasn't half bad!!).

The band mentioned that Morrissey thought their new song was "hilarious" and he really liked it and went on to add that they also aspired to produce lyrics to the high standard that Morrissey consistently penned.

They also explained that they intended to cover all of their back-catalogue on their forthcoming UK tour (all 21 releases!) including a special performance of Morrissey's personal favourite "Arts and Crafts Spectacular" which he previoulsy featured on his "Under The Influence" compilation.

Janice also played "suedehead".

Sorry my account isn't too detailed, but I was "half asleep" at the time.

Down Kill Up Poll
How do you feel about Morrissey dropping the F-bomb during his recent concert in Hamburg, Germany? (suggested by Ken Stavitzke)
I support Morrissey's response
Morrissey could have replied differently
I am undecided
I don't care
The audience provocateur should be examined, not Morrissey's reply
