This week my radio show The Adventure Club will be a three hour career spanning retrospective of Morrissey and The Smiths. All eras represented. Moz's camp has supplied some unreleased live stuff for me to play. There will be plenty of giveaways including vinyl copies of the Greatest Hits album. Indiana punk rockers, Kingston Falls have had their new record, "Armada on Mercury" leaked online prior to it's release next Tuesday. On that record, there is a track entitled "Dry Skin (Moz Def)", a track that seems to be a description of a suicide set against an all Moz playlist. This track ironically comes from the icy state Moz himself visited for the Suedehead music video in honor of James Dean.

Moz continues to influence even today's generation of underground music in the US.

On "The New Backwards", a bonus LP packaged with the vinyl additions of Coil's final album "The Ape Of Naples", there is a track entitled "Nature Is A Language", featuring the lyric:

"Nature Is A Language, Can't You Read?"

As both a longtime Moz and Coil fan, I was pleasantly surprised to find this connection. :)

Article in today's Guardian accusing Conservative leader David Cameron of hypocrisy in his apparent admiration for The Smiths and The Jam. Lists reasons why Morrissey is fundamentally opposed to everything Cameron stands for (other than the immigration issue, chortle); discusses his failed attempt to get photographed outside the Salford Lads' Club and concludes that Tories basically aren't allowed good taste in music. Marian Keyes is a best-selling Irish chick-lit author. According to Amazon, her newest book is available for pre-order under the same title as one of The Smiths’ earliest singles, This Charming Man. Could Keyes be another unlikely Smiths/Morrissey fan?
