At this time both the Sanctuary record deal and the Dean Butterworth as new drummer articles CANNOT be confirmed. I apologize for not marking them as such originally. They may or may not be true, I don't know, but as far as I am concerned the search for both record deal and drummer continues on.

I don't recall Scott Piering's death mentioned two years ago... Link from Tingle: Suitable Tribute To Scott by David Smyth - This Is London. Excerpt:
Scott Piering was a very popular bloke. The radio and television plugger for numerous popular bands of the past 10 years, the Minnesota native died from cancer, aged 44, two years ago. Last night, a glittering array of artists he had worked with gathered in King's Cross to pay tribute to his life and raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
...The majority played an acoustic set, including David McAlmont and Bernard Butler, who delivered a stirring version of Back to the Old House by The Smiths, whom Piering once managed.
--- charles byron was first to send the mention of the secret gig at NME.com:
according to NME "McAlmont & Butler make secret live return" (Apr.18) they covered "Back To The Old House" last night playing under the name of "Aly And The Pally's"

| Null Device covers "There Is a Light..." (clip) |

The band Null Device (of which I am a member) recently recorded a synthpop cover of "There is a Light That Never Goes Out" which will be appearing on our new album "Sublimation", due out in June on Nilaihah Records. The track is pretty poppy (in a good way), and ends with an extra little reference for fans. All the members of ND are fans of the Smiths/Moz, so a cover seemed like the logical thing to do.
A snippet of the track should appear on the website (www.nulldevice.com) in a few days.
