That song sounds soooo much better than I thought it was from reading the lyrics. **whew** A hearty thank you to whoever helped make this MP3 possible. The file, though, illustrates well why the proliferation of shows through MP3 format should be avoided....except for mass exposure like this. There's a distinct warble apparent throughout the song which acts as a disservice to Morrissey's wonderful performance (and what sounds like a rather nice recording). Thank you, thank you, though, for the song just the same! :)

I really, really like You

even when "I Like You" is probably one of the weakest song titles ever, the song itself is a lovely one with (as usual) great lyrics...
BTW, is it me or this could be another song written with Johnny Marr in mind?

Something about how Morrissey talks about the song at the end of the recording tells me he's both proud of the song and kind of embarrassed at how personal it is.

This song is brilliant! If this song is any indication of his new album, I foresee great things.

I am not that taken with this song. However, from the snippet I heard of "The First in the Gang to Die" I must say I thought it sounded terrific. I don't want to ruffle anyone's feathers here. I know that one of Morrissey's lesser accomplishments is far greater than most everything out there. I am interested in hearing Mexico but does anyone agree with me about "I Like You"?

I'm sorry, but "I Like You" is utter shit. This song makes Travis seem like The Smiths. One only has to look at the merchandise on offer, to realise that Morrissey has lowered his once high standards.

Morrissey as a lyricist and singer still has something to offer, but grinning Boorer & Co do not.

This a great song, the simplicity and restraint and the teasing lyrics moz at his best, play it twice and it's in your head forever (the mark of a great moz song)the little guitar signature at the end, dazzling, i love 'i like you'and tests prove i am not Boz boorers mum, it even has a scott walker feel to it, this makes the lack of a recording contract
all the more frustrating,no disrespect but it makes Suedes new single sound like 'the Tweenies' well done boys excellent stuff, and of course the marvellous mrs Shankly. Tony, Worthing.

Just another nice simple song. The kind of music that Morrissey frequently puts out.

Yeah, I was nonchalant about it during the first pass-through, but it's much better than you think it is. Very solid and well-constructed. My favorite bit is when the falsetto makes a return in the middle (similar to the "...Whalley Range..." days) - it still brings a shiver down my spine on how much of a genius he is. And, another favorite bit is at the end when he says "And you're not right in the head. Nor am I." Brilliant.

If I can ever complete the downloads from Ambitious-Outsiders website...I will post them on Kazaa, which will be a much faster download for anyone trying to get the songs.

I mean, if you think about it, its kinda like, if you haven't heard the new songs live yet, its kinda like jipping yourself outta the whole, new song all live feeling. No offence but, I for one want that experience of hearing a new morrissey song live for the very first time and not through somebody elses memory.

"I Like You" is NOT a great song. It's Boorer and Whyte on autopilot, boring plodding indie rock rubbish and the intro sounds like Lloyd Webber's Phantom. It heaves on for what seems like an eternity too - if it was 3 mins on the nose you might let it off but by the end it's like a horse begging to be shot.

His singing is still good but it's a rotten tune with a rotten title. The most heartbreaking thing is that the next album is obviously going to be a Maladjusted Mk 2. Same old same old. If he was knocking these out (cracking one off?) year on year that might be different but after five whole years! Maybe he's saving the good stuff and only giving us the b-sides. I hope. "I Like You" is a B-side, and a ropey one at that. Some of the above posts it's as if people are looking really hard to justify it's worth. And the next person to compare it to anything by The Smiths will be spanked, by me, with a wet plimsoll.

I know it's over.....

If you're going to complain about these songs as being *B sides* -- are *Alma Matters* and *Satan Rejected* (which were the A sides) better than *Lost* or *The Edges* or *I Can Have Both*? If recent history is any type of indicator, give me the B sides material. (Just keep the Z-side material (ie. *Striptease*) in a locked vault.)
