Being a newer fan (I'm only 21 and keep missing his concerts) I am so excited about this. I can't wait to see him live, I just picked up his box set of singles.. yah yah i know there is no new stuff. But I wanted to listen to the b-sides I haven't heard from his albumbs. This should be an event for sure.

Something unrelated is that I sent an e-mail to vh1 about doing a behind the music on Morrissey, this was the reply :

Thanks for your note and your great feedback on Behind the Music. I'm glad that you enjoy this series so much. We have a wish list about a mile long of all the artists we hope to feature on Behind the Music, and I will certainly share your request for a feature on Morrissey with the producers of the show. We appreciate your feedback and enthusiasm. There are many new episodes of Behind the Music in production. Hopefully you'll be pleased with the shows coming up soon, and perhaps one day you'll see a special on Morrissey. Thanks for watching VH1.

Again, thanks for taking time to write, and thanks for watching VH1.

Now that seems just like a pass you through the system reply to me, but I don't know. I encourage others to follow my lead and send an email to VH1 requesting a special on the man, I for one would greatly like to see this and I do not feel I am alone.

The more "decent" press and exposure Morrissey gets, the more those who haven't been exposed to Morrissey's lyrics will benefit. In a less selfish manner, Morrissey too will probably benefit by increased sales and publicity.
As Sting said, "If you love someone, set them free..." Lets not hoard Moz but share our hero with our fellow music lovers no matter who they are. I appreciate your opinion here, so I'll just agree to disagree. ;)

This is basically a follow up to my original post, but I do respond this person's comments. I didn't want to post it in the response section of the original thread because I wanted the most amount of fans to read this as I feel alot of people share my opinions.

First off, I have been into the Moz scene for over 10 years now and I have met my share of Moz fans. I love the music, consider myself a die hard fan, have been to countless shows..traveled to see him near and far..I love Morrissey, I love his band...the whole 9. I even prefer solo Moz to the Smiths. I'll take the worst of Morrissey over the best of anything else any day of the week and twice on Sundays. I never said I would never buy another Moz release..you obviously weren't paying attention. I said I was not going to buy THIS release because I will not reward Reprise (or Morrissey) for putting out another lame, rehashed, half-assed product.

Its obvious that Reprise is just capitalizing on the fact that its been over 3 years since Morrissey last released any new material. They probably thought to themselves:

"Hey..Morrissey fans are desperate for any kind of official Morrissey release..its been two years since we last picked their pockets (MEBY) and 3 years since his last album so lets release something..hmm..lets see..how about a DVD? We won't have to work very hard on it..we'll just use the old VHS masters we own. Hmm..maybe we should be sure to include every video...Nah, thats too much work, we don't have to worry about making it a complete collection..lets not bother licensing "Alma Matters" (which they could probably get a hold of for a free meal) or get some of those great BBC performances for songs that don't have official videos for (who here would rather see Morrissey performing "Sunny" live on the Jools Holland show from 11/95 rather then that..that "video" and I use the term "video" very loosely) . Lets not bother using some never seen before live video footage, we'll just take something from Live In Dallas despite the fact that we have the rights and have footage for loads of '91 and '92 shows (not to mention the Wolverhampton gig). We really want to put in as little work as possible, not bothering ourselves about content or quality and just cash in. Those Morrissey fans are such suckers..hahaha "

Well..I don't know if those were the exact words from the people at Reprise..but I'm sure it was something along those lines. I think thats its really disgusting. Morrissey is turning into one of those artists that we all laugh at. The ones who's careers are over and can only release "Best Ofs" and "Compilations" and do "Best Of" Tours.
Don't get me wrong, I thought the last Moz tour was brilliant..it did him well. It was a surprising good move on Morrissey's part. It reminded people that he was still alive and he mostly got great press because of it. The shows were strong and even exceeded an hour in length. But to me it was all for nothing because he really should have followed it up with some new material and capitalized on the success of the tour. Even if he would have released a live album form the tour it would have been something. But Morrissey is not one to capital

I am from Brazil, so I liked his tour very, very, very much since it was the first chance I had to see him live. I went to four shows and it was great... At least he is not sitting around doing nothing. His last tour was amazing (whether he did it for money or not). Sure, I am sick of the greatest hits packages that are so-so if that. At least he is still around. Would you be happier if he just went away? What loyalty is that? He is doing nothing more than any artist that has a great number of years behind them. Most artists would lay around and do nothing until the next release. Be thankful that he is not saying goodbye forever and if you wish he would, why would you even waste your time on this page. Silly! Also, does anyone know the date of the in-store?
