A conversation between me and a cute little five year old grey school-short clad boy in my class today…..

“I am afraid I have some VERY bad news for you today Mrs Alma!”

“Oh dear! What on earth has happened Thomas?”

“My Grandad has died!”

“Oh that IS bad news but as people get older I’m afraid sometimes sad things like that happen”

*REACHES OUT AND GIVES BOY A HUG*

“Yes I know. He was killed in World War Two!”

“Oh! Well that was a long time ago now Thomas but it’s ok to feel sad about things in the past from time to time. I expect your Grandad was a VERY brave man fighting in the war like that!”

“Oh he was. I begged him not to go but he just wouldn’t listen!”

2012?.....1942?.....they are all just numbers I guess!

Later in the day I was looking at the childrens RE work. Lily had MEANT (I hope!) to write " Jesus is IMPORTANT"

What she had ACTUALLY written, in her neatest handwriting, was "Jesus is IMPOTENT!"

Poor old Jesus!
