Smiths walk to kick off Shelagh Delaney Day celebrations in Salford

A Smiths walk, art exhibitions, poetry reading and theatre performances are among the events being held to celebrate the first Shelagh Delaney Day.
A 90-minute guided tour, explaining the history of Manchester band The Smiths and their links to the Salford playwright, will start from Oxford Road Station, at 11am, on Saturday, November 22.
The Smiths used a photograph of Shelagh on one of their album covers and lead singer and lyricist Morrissey said she inspired his writing.
The route will visit the Opera House, which inspired Shelagh to write her first play, A Taste of Honey.
Salford Lads Club in Ordsall will be exhibiting photographs by Arthur Brougham between 11.30am and 2pm on the same day and from 12noon to 3pm on
