Morrissey Ups His Punk Cred by Taking Selfies at a Rancid Show - Exclaim.ca

Excerpt:

As pointed out by AUX, the singer was photographed looking incredibly uncomfortable outside of Rancid's show in Hollywood on Tuesday night (April 19). The photo in question arrives courtesy of long-running hardcore band H2O's Facebook page and was accompanied by a caption from lead singer Toby Morse, praising Moz for his punk rock spirit.

According to Morse, Morrissey proved himself a true punk by releasing Meat Is Murder back in 1985 "when being vegetarian wasn't hip or cool."

He goes on to laud the guy because "he speaks his mind and gives zero f***s what anyone thinks," coming to the conclusion: "I don't know what's Punker than that?"

Obviously taking a selfie with Morse outside a Rancid concert is what's capital P "Punker" than that.

See Morrissey doing just that by checking out the whole Facebook post below.

There is nothing so sad as a website trying to deep throat the popularity algorithm....
Do they know what 'selfies' are?
Do they know how daft their whore-like attentioning title sounds?
Puke.

Incredibly uncomfortable is my everyday look.

didnt we just have this discussion. im also guessing that they both have a love of rockabilly between them as racind is a heavily roots 50's rock influenced band. never liked the damned after brian quit. thought they turned into just an alright pop band after that. kudos to them being on an indie as the sex pistols and the clash were both on majors of course

In fairness, Morrissey was at both Sex Pistols gigs at the Lesser Free Trade Hall and his first time on stage was as part of the support act for Slaughter and the Dogs. I'm not sure how turning up at a rock concert in LA now would help him "up his punk cred".

a lot of americans look at britsh punk as a pop movement with managers and press for the charts. the clash were hand picked like a boy band to compete with the pistols by a manager. sure rancid were famous in the nineties but they came form the hardcore scene in l.a. which was filed with murder drugs police abuse and horrible poverty with no "dole" to help artist crate anything. even bands like nofx who people see as a pop punk band these days started in 83 and there story is filled with rapes stabbings junkie drummers and all kinds of gangs suicides murders and ods. they just released there own auto not long ago and it was super sad at times

He was there. It's like saying that an apostle goes to church on Sunday to prove he is Catholic. Or something similar...

morrissey is very beloved by that crowd. many fans of hardcore etc have always loved moz and there, rancids, common musical elements to his own music all add up to it making sense to me. rollins said something to praise him not long ago as well though he not my fav in the musical sense regarding flag as he didnt write anything even the words (that would be ginn another hero) but the rollins band was pretty cool and hes a great public speaker

He deserves the love :)

Morrissey doesn't need to "Up his punk cred". He was more punk than punk ever was and still is.

Who writes such articles these days? Horrible. I can't see anyone "taking a selfie". There are just two singers being photographed (by someone else) at a punk show. Both of their hands are in the picture.

Bit creepy. Amongst the last few bands I saw were Rancid (London Forum) and The Damned (London Roundhouse).

Rancid are bloody awful! Only had one song of any note (that played a note) the rest is just shouty old nonsense.

Lets face it you aren't gonna see Moz at a Drake gig eh.

Happy St George's Day

yes, the whole article was offensive. any article that uses the terms "selfie" and "zero f***s" is bound to be. the only thing that isnt offensive here is mozzers ever comely visage.

i know i was thinking the same. also h20, meh though hes a nice guy from interviews and the political speeches hes given from the stage. weird about rancid being one note as that dost describe there sound at all since they play some ska rockabilly have two guitarists freemans written about as one of the most all over the frett bassists and there songs are all musically for sure not one note. now if you said that about bad religion id agree though i havent seen them live since the indestructible album which is half about his divorce and have about strummers death. his vocals are for sure an acquired you like them or dont taste with the slurring. for sure not musically one note unless they rewrote all there song. now drake i cant stand

He shows up at rock concerts in LA because he has nothing better to do. Sometimes just staring out over the Pacific Ocean, drinking Corona and lime, eating pasta with marinara sauce, and chocolate chip cookies does get monotonous. I guess you people will never get it or is "Budget rent a van" big in Manchester? Anonymous-
