Morrissey/ John Denver duet of "Annie's Song"?

Re: Morrissey/ John Denver Duet?

Hello everyone! I just joined Morrissey-solo, and was wondering if any of you could help me out with something? In 1997, John Denver released his last album before he died, "All Aboard!"

The album is mostly a compilation of popular children's song along with some Denver originals--in addition to all these great songs was supposed to be a Denver/Morrissey duet of "Annie's Song", one of Morrissey's favorite John Denver songs of all time. For some reason, this gem was left off the album and not much has been said about it. My grandmother was actually friends with an Episcopalian minister, who baptized Denver's children and was also one of his very good friends. He was the one who told me of the song's alleged existence and that Denver and Morrissey met in Denver, Colorado (of all places!) when the Smiths toured the states in the '80s. Denver's son, Zach, was actually a big Smiths fan, and he took Zach to see the Smiths when they were in Colorado. After the show, Denver told Morrissey how much he enjoyed the show and Morrissey, in turn, told Denver how much he admired him. Then, started a friendship that lasted until Denver's death and allegedly spawned the duet that I have long sought after!
If you have any information on this duet, please let me know! Any help is much appreciated!
Just wow. 2 great boys should have connected. What a meeting. I'm just about to listen to Annie's song. I used to get JD and GC mixed up. Is John the one who copped it in the light aircraft? I'll look him up. Welcome here, but don't hang around too long, it can be dispiriting lol. X

In 2012 Morrissey sang the first verse of Annie's Song a-cappella to start the show in either Portland, ME or Burlington, VT.. can't remember which but I'm sure it's in the archives.

Post the link, if poss. I thought I never promised you a rose garden was out of this (musical) world, Annie's song with M singing it would be great to see. Brighton this site B and share such a moment X

Re: Morrissey/ John Denver Duet?

In Autobiography Moz writes that Michael Stipe sings like a "cornfed John Denver".

Re: Morrissey/ John Denver Duet?

Before going to shoplifters he sang the first line to Annie's Song by John Denver before laughing.

Second thoughts don't bother, this site is full of Scarey haters. #smalldicksoftheworldunitelolsigh.

Blykey! Morrissey would never do a duet with this blood Yank. I just spotted Morrissey in Manchester yesterday.

PS. I found this website called Lids where shipping for New York Yankees Baseball caps to Manc is only 2,300 squid. Anonymous-

All the songs on this album are about trains, what is the Annie's song connection?

Annie liked trains. Especially when they were being run on her.

But anyway I want to hear Morrissey sing that one that goes "I'm sorry for the way things are in China."

ahhh i loved mozzers i never promised you a rose garden too! complete fullfillment! i think he should do a cover of four strong winds. i love that song. i was in a starbucks once and it was playing and i started sobbing right there at the till lololol

also nevermind that nasty anon. he has an incredibly inane and sorry nature, and tends to behave like an annoying fly that just wont go away.

might think of another song Morrissey liked from John Denver, 'Calypso' about the Jean C. who sailed the seas and made lots of docs about animals , nature and already showed where the climate went wrong due to humans.

I'm suprised about the connection with 'annie's song'and John Denver

Yes, very sad...JD in a light airplane crash and GC with Alzheimer's. Having witnessed death by Alzheimer's I think JD got the better bargain. If you are a GC fan you have to watch his I'll be Me documentary. It puts a popular face on the disease and shows the brutal nature of its progression. Here is a link:

JD was a great American singer songwriter and had a long and successful career even though his life was cut short. An interesting pairing him and Moz.
